If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

its baffling to think a car company with network of Hyundai is incapable of sorting its dealership issues for almost an entire year after announcing a brand new marquee product. I think if one can wait till next year this time 2019 G70s will be up for grabs for 20-30% discounts brand new.
There is a difference. Genesis had a plan in place, but, unfortunately, not a good one. Once scrapped, they had little time to make a new plan and execute it. Seems like that are, now, but slower than they would like.

Some states seemed to have gone well , but then, you have Texas. Supposedly one Hyundai dealer is suing and everything is held up. That can take a long time to resolve.

My guess is that it will take a couple more months to get the dealers straight but will take a year to get the SUVs introduced and then it will be stronger brand.

The concept of less dealers is a benefit to the consumer in that corporate can oversee the dealers much easier. That can greatly improve service and the sales experience.

They definitely made mistakes in the process, probably the biggest one not realizing what hurdles they will run into as far as getting it done. To be fair though, a lot of it is out of their hands. As what appears to be the case in at least Texas, they have gone through the steps but a dealer is suing them. Once that happens everything is put on hold for that state pending the outcome of the lawsuit. You know how long that takes. If we are to believe the statement they gave in September, they were licensed in 45 out of 50 states. That is only the first part of the process though, if there are no legal issues holding things up, then they have to offer franchises and those accepting them need to get licensed by the state. The last check I did, it appears that they have completed everything in only 16 states.

These cars are certainly not flying off the dealership lots. People that are interested in paying them is separated into two groups, the people that are not willing to pay MSPR and those of us waiting for CPO or steep discounts. Would it help if they have a dealership network ready? yea, but not by much when the dealership is right next to a Hyundai dealership, it suddenly becomes less prestige. Hopefully this is a long-term investment for Hyundai, i think by 2021 they might have better recognition once they have standalone dealer and a full lineup. I am just here waiting for the 3.3t to drop down the mid to low 30s. Props for the early adopters.

I think 3.3t for mid 30s would be an absolute killer of a deal if we can get it that far. It would end any or all sales of a BMW 330i, C300, A4 and IS350.

I beg to differ. Genesis is not a really well know brand. The competition is very well know. People will still buy BMW, Audi and Mercs even if Genesis offers a 3.3T at mid 30k. Genesis need’s to establish itself more before that sees the light of day. I want to see Genesis Succeed but at this point they aren’t looking so good. Give it time and they should be up there with the competition.

I am just doing some silly Math here. A used 2018 G80 Sport is currently selling for around 41K with MSPR of 59K. so using that as my base, a 2019 G70 around Oct-Nov 2019 could easily be in the mid to low 30k range depending in trim.

No way to equate those two. A used car is much different than a new one. According to TrueCar the 2018 Sports are selling for an average price of a little over $54k. Lets say that is higher because of earlier sales so lets go down to $52k which would be about an 11% discount. Apply that to the G70 3.3t and I think you are still in the upper 30s/lower 40s.

Well, you might be correct looking at the national level and the issues they have to deal with at the large scale. But for the states that they have the dealerships up and running, are they selling?! do they have enough inventory to accommodate all trims/colors/packages? are they flexible in pricing to get the damn inventory out the door and get the ball rolling? where are the lease-specials? where are factory incentives?

unfortunately, my answer is all NOs. there are 2 dealerships in my area (MD/DC/Northern VA) and they have about 10-12 G70s between the two of them, and they have had them from the beginning ( I don't think they have sold a single one). there are only 2 that are AWD, and there is only 1 that is 2.0 AWD (which is a fully loaded one around 50k in that weird white color).

I personally have been so excited about this car for so long now, but I haven't been to those dealers for even a test drive yet. I feel I have lost interest already and I'm moving on to other brands mainly due to this all-around incompetency and unwillingness to sell (MSRP+?! for a car manufactured in May and will be sitting into next year, give me a break). here is the sales number for the big brother G80 which has been around since 2009 and still turns heads on the road, do you still believe Genesis (or G70 in particular) is going to survive let alone a success story?

DREAM ON Governor! you might want to hear some G80 stories from customers that couldn't get anything off (maybe 1k) for the 2017/2018 model that is just sitting there. for some reason the hyundai/genesis sales people do not have any will to sell G80s. they just don't care anymore. maybe they are pissed at the mother company or what but they can't care less if they move volume on Genesis Cars or not.

Place your bets on the october's sales number. Since they stop shipping the G80 to the states, my guess would be less than 250 units,.

they have to ... no dealer will be incurring interest on a 60k vehicle because their sales guys are pissed of at their mother company..;) lol

I believe the MSRP for a 2018 G80 Sport new is: $56225 including shipping. Almost $3,000 less than used in calculations.

imagine yourself in a buyer shoe. You got a car that is very well reviewed by every person that was able to get a hand on it and a BMW( which every one adores). When it comes to crunch time you will compare the value and driving dynamics of both. BMW will be in 60k range equally equipped. While Genesis could come down to low 40s to high 30s I am speaking of dynamic or elite 3.3t (which is much more equipped than similarly priced 330, or A4 or C300). Which one would you buy? I w0uld get Genesis in a heat beat with out thinking twice and would do it again twice in a week.

I did say is silly Math, I just went on Cars.com and searched used G80 and took the average of lowest price 5 AWD cars and compared to the MSRP to the AWD new car. and then assumed the depreciation of the G70 to the G80 given everything equally weighted. Is not really a technical analysis here lol

I completely understand where you’re coming from. I love the G70 from the design to the interior but if Genesis does not market it right nobody will know about it. Half of the people who buy cars nowadays barely look at reviews for them. Genesis can’t just only be showing commercials of the G70 on Monday night foot. Not everyone in America see’s football. Genesis needs to start coming out with commercials across different channels in order for them to get big. Not only there but on Social Media as well. Genesis barely posts pictures of the G70. It’s always been G80 and G90. Run ad’s on YouTube as well get it out there. Now that’s how you do marketing especially for a new comer like Genesis.

And if they just gave them away they could really flood the market. ;) Actually I think lowering the price too much would hurt them. Many, possibly the majority, of the people buying at this class is not in it for performance but rather prestige. They relish the idea of driving a BMW/AUDI/etc. versus the actual driving of them.

I think it’s good to balance price and performance especially more so as they couldn’t sell any equous ever. Lexus did the same thing with their is in 2015,16 and 17. They had ridiculously Low lease deals that out IS200T at every corner. I see Lexus IS everywhere. Try going to dealer and ask for the same price. They won’t even come close. But now they have legions of brand loyalists that came for lower price Lexus and even if 50% retains their cars with Lexus because IS is a good car they succeeded in their mission than what they would have had they always been that elusive expensive Lexus brand no one can afford. It’s a different marketing strategy and hope genesis adopts the same.

You still have to look at the national level. Aside from people on this forum, does the general public even know they exist? Should corporate spend a bundle in advertising when many states do not have dealers yet? Few people know of Genesis let alone the G70. There is still a lot of stuff in a holding pattern and probably will be for months yet.
To answer another question, NO, I would not pay sticker or sticker+. I don't thin there will be factory incentives until there is more inventory around the country. Give it now and the dealer in Texas will sue if he does not have it when he finally comes on line.

Bad situation that will linger into next year.

We have a new state, welcome Minnesota to the list. We also had a few new dealers since the last update as well as losing SC. The 2019s are now available in 12 states at 30 dealers. NJ has caught up with GA for having the most dealers, 6, and Alabama is one behind with five

I will crosspost in the similar thread.
