  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Yup, yard waste pickup is this week. Sunday will be busy :(. And the da*n trees still have leaves!

How does it compare to the S5 (?) in the above pic?

Driving characteristics.

Keep the observations coming! I got the Dynamic trim as well. Hope to get it by the weekend but it's currently being shipped and I don't know where in the process that is...

Go Jets Go!

Thanks for posting--looks beautiful!

ikonn,
Congratulations on your new cah!
Good gas mileage and the '70 do not go together. Hint: Once the drive mode is set to smart and you're not accelerating, but on any downgrade, the vehicle's transmission automatically disengages from the engine and the word "Coast(ing)" will come up on the driver's screen. The transmission reengages once you apply pressure to the gas pedal. The transition is unnoticeable.

great interior!

Congrats! Enjoy :)

Good catch, eagle eye!

The S5 is a non aspirated V8 so the driving characteristics are quite different. The G70 is lighter, has a little more hp (10) but a lot more torque (50) and with the turbo, achieved at much lower rpm. It feels more agile and is likely faster by half a sec to 60. In early driving, handling feels more precise.

Both are AWD with paddle shifters and rev matching on downshifts. Brakes on both are excellent according to my seat of the pants, although with lower weight and Brembos, I would expect the G70 braking to be shorter.

The G70 is newer with more tech/features however the S5 interior is still very attractive (despite its age) and the Audi switchgear quality is fantastic and high quality.

Overall, the G70 is going to be a sweet car to drive (I hope) but it will never match the feel and sound of the S5 V8. I love that S5.

Thanks. Coast mode works in Eco too and is selectable in Settings. I tried Smart a little bit tonight but need to read the manual more to understand the benefits. I see that it has a gauge that measures how you are driving and switches the driving mode accordingly. I am committed to seeing how good the mileage can be in my first few months! Might try hyper mileing! ;)

I still wish I knew why auto stop/start (idle stop) was not included with the 3.3. Must have been a constraint with the technology platform and/or costs for them to put it in the 2 litre but remove it from the more expensive 3.3. I’ve gotten used to that feature so I miss it in the G70.

Regardless, even in Eco, instant acceleration seems to be available so I do not feel like I am losing out on performance (in regular traffic).

You have more experience with Comfort or Sport?

I'm curious as to why you miss it. Others seemed to think it would be a detraction rather than a benefit. I never drove a car with it so I have no opinion.

I’ve had it in 2 cars (still have it in 1) and if the implementation is good (ie if it is seamless with smooth shut downs and re-starts, if the hardware upgrades like battery and starter are properly done etc), I think it’s a good feature and I have gotten used to sitting at stop lights in silence and peace (except for my music of course). Once I got used to how it works, I find it relaxing and appreciate every minute of lower emissions. I’m less concerned about my gas mileage - except maybe with this thirsty G70 :).
