In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hi All

The airbag light is on and I’m looking for ideas on how to fix it.

2011 Hyundai Genesis 4.6l V8

I have a scanner and it is giving me: - b1346 driver airbag resistance high 1st stage. But what does that mean?

The scanner can clear the code but it comes back immediately.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks EdP.

The following, from the web link: - We often find that the problem is not the airbag but the writing to the faulty airbag. For example, if you get driver airbag open circuit or high resistance in most cases the Hyundai airbag is not the problem but the clock spring may be the issue.

I called the local dealer and they quoted me $100 for a diagnostic and $225 (part cost) for the clock spring (assuming my guess based on the web link is correct).

I found a new old stock clock spring on ebay for $30. Hopefully that will cure the issue. I hope to receive the part in a few days and hopefully install it by the end of the week.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Update:-
The $30 ebay part was broken (the seller informed me b4 they shipped it)
Ordered a $50 Hyundai original part from South Korea. part number 93490 3M000 (your car might have a different clock spring if you have different options)

I fitted the new clock spring today and........................ the airbag light has gone out.

I cannot remember but i think the light went out immediately.

This is a common problem caused by a faulty clock spring.
I would recomend replacing the clock spring.once the correct repair is made the airbag light will cut off on its own.hope this helps

I am about to attempt to perform this task on my Genesis due to the same issue... how difficult is this and what tools do I need?

Excellent write up. Just replaced mine with the help!

Hyundai sent me a letter "Extended Warranty Notification" for 2009 - 2014 Genesis for the "Clock Spring", for 15 years with unlimited miles from date of original retail delivery or the date first use which ever occurs first.
