If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. What did you pay for your Genesis G80?

The 2019s are already in Nevada and other people here have gone to dealers with 2019s on their lot and they weren't discounting much at all on the 2018s.
Yeah, it’s been a really long time researching, waiting “patiently” and my first experience wasn’t so hot. I had the 2009, then the 2012 Genesis and then life happened in 2015. I am more than ready to step back into this car after a 4 year hiatus but not for sucker pricing.

So I thought I would share my experience here in Las Vegas. Just got back from looking at a 2018 G80 Sport listed as “New” and has been sitting on the lot since at least April and the GM drove it. I arrived to look at the “New” car and was told, oh this was a Demo car and it has 3750 miles on it. I said, then you better give me one hell of deal. I get in the car and the passenger seat already shows signs of wear. Now get this, for a used “Demo” car, wait for it, $63K! I said, you’re joking right? Oh but the GM lives only two miles away and that’s it. I said, I wouldn’t buy that for 0 miles on it. So I go on Edmunds, see people pay about 54K with invoice of 52K in my area. Sport ones online with similar used mileage 3-5K in mileage
for 46K-48K. I said, clearly the GM wants to continue driving the car. Pretty disappointing considering the 2019’s are already on the lot in Henderson. Here is a screenshot from the Car Gurus app of the price history of said vehicle.
That's so funny. I've been running into this same issue now with 3 dealers. The managers are driving the cars and then trying to sell them as NEW with thousands of miles on them. To add insult to injury, they aren't discounting them, and if they are its comical how much they take off. From what I've seen previously priced genesis sedans that were new and end of year at myocal dealerships, they will discount 8 - 13k off msrp. I used to go into one of the Hyundai dealers here and every year they would have often times 12k+ off msrp written on the front windshield of whatever the top genesis g model was for that year (genesis sedan, g80, etc). I know they will, it's just a matter of them being less greedy.

Yeah, pretty ridiculous. Where are you located @BrainDoc?

Gotcha. And here I thought, wait until the end of the year or at least the end of the month. Silly me.

I'm slowly moving on from genesis if they keep this up. I'm going to try to test drive a Ghibli SQ4 Gransport in the coming week or so since I can get a 2018 for almost the same price as these dealers think their G80 sport is worth. FYI for those interested, most Maserati dealers are knocking a cool 20k off msrp before negotiations right now on NEW 2017 and 2018 Ghibli models.

After reading everything here I have 2 questions. I want to go in with as much knowledge as possible.
1. How can I tell when the car was built? I can download the window sticker on the cars I am looking at however there is no date on them.
2. On the website it says that lease information is based on a credit rating of 800. My Fico score is 760 and says excellent. Is this going to mess me up as far as Money Factor is concerned? It really shouldn't as my trade in and the 6000 they are giving actually covered the entire 3 year lease on the car at the last place I looked. The problem I had with them is that they then wanted 33000 to purchase the car. Which was 3000 more than I was willing to pay. (Looking back on it though it won't make any difference if I just turn the car in after three years.) But that wasn't my plan at the time.

Yeah, but there's a reason they're doing that. Not only are Ghibli's almost universally panned by reviewers, but their value drops like rocks. Even if you are buying a "new" car, it becomes a one year old (or two in the case of 2017s) used car as soon as you drive it off the lot.

I owned a Maserati until last year that I loved (2005 Coupe'), and I looked at the Ghiblis when they first came out, but I was shocked at what Maserati had done to keep costs down and create an "entry level" vehicle for the brand. Unless things have changed in the last couple of years, I think you'll be disappointed when you sit in one.

If you have the time to wait until your local Genesis dealer becomes reasonable, I think you'll be happier. Or alternatively, you can do what I did and fly to a dealer in another state and purchase the vehicle of your choice at a more reasonable price.

There is no denying Maserati designs beautiful cars. The problem is they build horrible cars. My brother leased (thank god) a 2017 SQ4. Since he acquired the car it has been in the shop over 2 months. 4 weeks on one incident alone. Fortunately he has secondary vehicles. Fun fact, Maserati is owned/managed by Fiat/Chrysler. Two automotive names synonymous with quality 🙄. Alfa Romeo is also part of F/C stable of cars.

I'm in Ohio/Michigan

How close are you to the dealers in Michigan that have the 2019's? Have you checked to see if they have any left over 2018s that maybe they will discount more? You may also see if you can get Costco to use one of them for the pricing on a 2018 and see if there is any difference. Then again, I think it was mgg who was in NJ trying to get a dealer with 2019s to discount the 2018 but not a lot of movement.

1. The window stickers do not contain the date of manufacture. The most accurate way is to look at the sticker on the driver's door. There are some free VIN lookup tools out there that may give it to you but they can be a pain to find.

2. I don't know what their cutoffs for the rate tiers are. Probably the best way to determine that is to post a request for rates in that link to the Edmunds forum I gave you the other week. Just request the MF and RV for a specific area and model and include your credit score. I would think 760 qualifies for the lowest rate but maybe not.

Maserati Ghibli is a nice looking car. Great sounding exhaust and you get a true premium brand name. except for the reliability :(

One Big reason why I purchased my G80 Sport AWD is the that I was able to get $15k off the MSRP and the car only had 65 miles on it.

If it wasn't for that. I would be driving a Mercedes Benz E400 4matc.

Thank you all for the valuable input. Where our how do I negotiate 15k off, that would make me more inclined to just buy the g80 outright. Thanks

Out of curiosity, what dealer was more reasonable? I don't know if I'd be able to drive a longer distance due to work, but I'm wondering if it isn't crazy far then maybe it is possible.

It took me a few months and I contacted dealerships within a 200 miles radius from my location. Did most of the work through email.

This forum helped me a lot what people are getting and what they had to do. I suggest you read through this thread. I also use leasehackr forum to see what people are paying for their car before they talk about the monthly lease.

@BrainDoc Have you tried Superior Hyundai of Beavercreek. They have two of them advertised on cars.com for over $3k off MSRP. They both say only 13 miles (may just be something to put there) so maybe not a used demo/exec car. You may be able to get them down a bit more and then the $6k lease cash also.

Thank you for checking. Unfortunately both of their cars are "exec" cars with 3-6k miles on them. They were also pretty firm on their price. If I recall right, they wanted to give me a $750 discount for the white one because it had a few thousand miles on it. I told them no thanks. I actually drove that particular vehicle and the dealer told me that while in the car with me (which was another annoyance that he wouldn't let my wife and I just drive it on our own).

Thank you, that is helpful. My goal is 15k off MSRP, so I'm glad to hear others were able to get that. How long ago did you purchase your vehicle?

On a separate note, how are you liking your G80 Sport? What complaints do you have, if any?

BrianDoc I am in the same boat as you.

Thanks for the information.

So I am having the hardest time getting these ppl to discount the G80 Sport and no one is even remotely getting close to the user that said he bought it in May/June for 46k.... How is that possible? Anyone have any suggestions and also template emails they are willing to share? I'm trying to contact dealers in the midwest.

Thanks!
