  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Rear USB outlets are installed!

Looks great! Hoping to see the install video

Nice. Too bad Hyundai didn't add these like 90% of all other cars have. It's 2019 almost, people in the back seat need power ports too Hyundai!

One tiny nitpick. Personally I would have pput the outlet higher up to avoid being kicked or also to avoid dirt and carpet fuzz from venturing into the outlet.

personally I am going to try installing mine in the rear seat console one on either side of the heated seat switches. when I go on Christmas vacation next month:

Yeah, they're behind things.

I wanted to mount it higher as well but the rear ac duct comes up the middle and curves closer to panel. Moving it up higher would interfere. Even adding a pair of outlets off to sides of the duct would not get them much higher due to the structure of the panel/brackets under the console.

I also thought about adding some there but I don't have the ultimate package/heated seats. Pulling power up the armrest would be a little more invasive (they could've at least tossed in the rear shade control) and a 3rd passenger would also prevent access to them.

I'll never carry a third passenger, might have 2 back there, 98% of the time it is just the kid and dog in the rear.. so not worried about having a third passenger.

I just upgraded from the Kia Cadenza to a 2016 Ultimate and was shocked that there aren't any USB ports in the center console (Cadenza has a 12v outlet inside the console) and would like to add something there to hide the wires while charging. So seeing what you did it would make sense to add in both locations if possible. That being said, I have 2 questions for you. First, since you just had it apart, was there anything that you could think of which would prevent adding charging ports to the inside of the console? Second, how difficult was the project for you overall with time and hassles? It looks like something that I'd love to try to do myself if it doesn't take forever and a day... It looks awesome by the way.....Thanks....

a flush fit cig to usb adapter would IMO be the easiest way to convert the 12v outlet in the console.

Mr. Incredible, I'm thinking I wasn't clear in my original comment. I'm wanting to add a charging port(s) in the console inside the enclosed storage area under the center armrest. That would allow me to store and hide the charging cable when it's not in use as opposed to how it is now where it's getting tangled up with the shifter, especially when there are two devices being powered at the same time. Sorry for the confusion....

you stated the Cadenza has a 12v power port inside the console, is that correct?

you want USB inside the console, is that correct?

the link I provided converts the Cig light to a USB without cutting, drilling, taking apart, or wiring.

I’d like to add either a 12v charging port and/or USB ports inside this compartment under the armrest in the center console. This is where my Cadenza had one, so I could plug my phone in to charge and then it would just stay in the storage compartment out of sight and no messy wires to deal with. Hope this clarifies what my initial question was.512D9B6C-C800-4368-9582-6F1C7A1CC8B8.webp

ah I see. my 2018 G80 has a usb power only port there and a 12v adapter port there. only thing up front is the carplay USB.

I thought had a 12v already..

Ahh charging ports and Carplay, oh how I would love to have those... Guess I'll have to wait to upgrade to a 2018... Until then, I'll just have to work on adding a few additional charging / USB port locations in the 2016 I just purchased. I will admit, overall, I'm very pleased with the switch from the KIA to the Genesis...... As for my initial questions, if anyone has any suggestions or information, I would be appreciative to have it..... Thanks

Same place where I keep my gun and knife. I found some nice mil spec USB connectors that's aviation use you will need to pin these.

1FstYota, I wasn't thinking about the contents of the compartment when I took that photo and posted it. At least I didn't post a picture of what's kept in the trunk.... I assure you that everything is legal and I'm properly licensed and certified to have them..... BTW, your link to the connectors came up with no results found....

Lol I'm not worried about that, now I'm intrigued about what's in the trunk, I like my firearms.

Anyways I didn't actually post a link just the site advertisement that is trying to clickbait someone.

But for reference, I'm talking about these.
