  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

As the title says, does the G70 has a compass in the rearview mirror? The 2016 Genesis has it and I really like that feature because you always know in what direction you are moving on without having to have the Nav screen on in the center console screen.

as it is a standard Gentex/Mito mirror, you should have no difficulty getting one from another Genesis that has the compass and swapping it into the G70.

really silly it is not included, they might have save $2.00 using the cheaper mirror without the compass, seeing as the homelink and other controls are still there.

the connector are pretty universal between makes and models, because the mirror itself is made by the company Gentex/Mito, the only real difference is how the various buttons are perceived by the cars computer to preform their various tasks.

the compass however isn't related to all of that, it is self contained within the mirror and powered by the general 12v supply that goes to the mirror.

yes I have monkied around with Gentex mirrors a lot, going back to 1993 when I farmed one out of a GMC Truck and made it work in my Ford Probe.

I'm really hoping to get one of the frameless Gentex mirrors from GM or Lexus to work in my G80, they are far nicer than the one that is in there from Genesis

Thanks for the responses. It's a shame they didn't put it.

Just blows my mind that they would exclude it. I didn't notice it was missing...but I do use it. Now I'm bitter. LOL.
Take it easy my friend. I know is another sh..t from Genesis but what the heck. We'll have to live without it. :negative:

I might put an "S" sticker there...just so it looks like it exists. I might be travelling north...but dammit...my mirror says south and that makes me smile. I need a drink.

The G70 hasn’t has a compass in the rearview mirror? Even my ‘12 Hyundai Genesis one has.

Useless thing anyway, unless you live in a jungle where there are no roads, lol

In the age of internet, smartphones, car's navigation system and stuff, who's using a compass in a car? :grinlaugh:

I find it so easy to have it in my rearmirror. For sure we have smartphones and Navi but we have to turn them on in order to see yor route. I can live without it but is such a nice touch...:sorrow:

I'd not use it to navigate out of the jungle, but there are times on twisting back roads you can get turned around and it is good to know you are going in the general direction intended. Hardly ever use it, but handy once in a while.

Here's a question for you, assuming they use the same brand for Kia as well. For 2019, Kia removed Home Link on the Sorento in Canada. If I were to get the 2018 mirror, would it work or does Home Link require extra wiring?
Hopefully the transponder is just in the mirror and takes power from the harness!
