  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So all this time this was the G90??? Even more features, and some cool colors for the interior.

Overall it looks good.

The wheels have got to go, The fake Escalade side vents as well.

I’d also like to see a carbon fiber interior trim option. Not a fan of the faux wood.

I wonder if the blinkers will go up to the front doors on the US version. That and the fake vents remind me of something the Griswolds would drive. A bit too stylistic for me.

looks like they opted for the BMW style side marker instead of putting them on the Mirrors like the current version.

Personally I prefer the mirror signals, they are higher up and people actually tend to see them.

Hey, that's real wood. They have a special treatment to make it look fake though.
Agree on the wheels.
The turn signal on the side looks nifty for one use, but the mirror seems more practical for others to see them. I'm not a fan of fake vents and hood scoops.

if anything it is a wood veneer, less than 1/8" of actual hardwood, most automotive veneers are 1/16" to 1/32" of an inch of hardwood, I guess technically you can call it "real wood" as it contains a finite sliver a real wood log that was peeled and rotary cut to the thinnest possible layer.

personally I call it "real ugly", wood designing in cars had it's place between the early 1900s and about 1940 as a need because that's all there was. As steel manufacturing became more and more advanced, the need for wood became less and less until it became a "luxury" detail in the mid 1960s on very high end cars.

Today everything is a manufactured veneer that contains very little if any real wood, most car makers use a simulated synthetic product, with the exception again of very high end Luxury cars like Aston Martin, Maybach, Bentley's, Rolls Royce, etc. who still use "REAL" hardwood that is hand shaped and polished.

Now having a hand shaped and polished wood dash in my 1939 Ford, I wouldn't mind in the least, the original "Deluxe" model came with a pure wood dash panel, the entire dash was hand made of Cherry. But in an modern car... YUCK.

I'm on the fence about it, when the DH came out it was alright but in person much better looking. I feel this is the case with the 2020 G90. It doesn't look bad but just need to see it in person. I hope they make a sport version of it as well and Genesis makes the regular and sport more distinguished such as AMG and M cars.

Why such a quick redesign? Wasn't the current G90 released last year? I like the features, I hate the wheels and it looks like a Ford/Lincoln product. Good to see a 5.0 badge on the back though.

For the US it’s only been 3 model years. 2017-2019. But in Korea the current G90 has been in production since 2015 and was called the EQ900

5 years is pretty industry standard for a refresh.

Wonder if the facelift will get the cool box and seat massagers back. In my opinion, I like the styling except the grille, the back, and the rims. The problem I have grille is the point. I feel it is to pointy for the overall front fascia for the car. And the rear reminds me too much of the Lincoln Continental. And my opinion, the rims just don't fit the overall side styling.

Sort of like saying "they used nice glass in the windows". I agree, especially on the grill.
Not sure about the rims until I see them in person. In a couple of photos they looked OK, but in others, they look like hubcaps from J C Whitney to put on your '58 Plymouth with all the chrome.

I like the new grille design especially the sharp point at the bottom, it makes it unique and stand apart from the Hyundai grille.

The current Genesis grille shape/design is too close to the Hyundai models and also looks too similar to Audi.

Now it stands apart.

While I think the overall design/shape of the Genesis crest grille could have been done better (should look better on its CUVs than sedans), the previous hexgonal-shaped design was too similar to (as you stated) Hyundai and Audi, as well as Subie, Ford, Datsun and some Toyotas and certain models of other manufacturers.

For a higher-end lux model, personally don't think carbon fiber matches (even for sports cars and supercars, it's kinda played out).

If going w/ wood, a nice matte finish would do.

As for the side vents, don't have as much of an issue w/ them (altho, not really my thing) as can see the designers using them as styling element to hold/display the extended turn signal.

Plus, we see side vents being used as basically decor in everything from Buicks to BMWs to Bentleys.

one of the reasons I don't like ide vents, kinda of like Lambo doors on a civic. very played out, everyone has them, and sometimes they look like a stuck on after thought.

As for the carbon fiber: even a basic glossy black veneer like BMW uses, or a maybe black wood, or brushed aluminum would be ok.

I just do not like brownish wood in a car. I guess if the dash is dark brown or tan, it looks fine, but I would never buy a vehicle with that type of interior, not my taste, I like black on black, and brown wood on a black dash looks horrible to me.

In my house, yes, 95% of my home is stained wood, my family room has vaulted ceilings with exposed beams all done in dark walnut stain, my kitchen is all blond wood, my floors are hardwood and vary from blond to medium brown to dark walnut depending on the room. My deck is a 1200 square feet of hand laid redwood with dark cherry stain, my house is surrounded by ugly pink brick walls that I attached picket fencing to in a nice medium brown walnut stain.
