  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I noticed some really small sections of clear paint protection film on at the lower end of both rear doors on my G70. I didn't notice this until I brought my car home and started detailing it. I contacted my GXM and he said it was supposed to be there. I thought perhaps it was mistakenly not taken off as I requested my car not to be detailed by the dealership. It makes no sense to me at all. The sections are so small and are not going to protect against anything. There is a small 2"x 2" square and a couple narrow pieces about 1" wide by 3" long. It looks very odd and will provide no benefits

I'm just curious if everyone else has this as well?

Normal. Mine has it too.
My 2012 Acura TL had it too but it was a narrower strip.

I'm baffled as to why they would put that on. A little 2"x2" square is going to do didly squat. It just seems like the strangest thing to me. I would love to know the conversation that led to making that decision.

The one near the wheel well maybe makes a bit of sense if the aerodynamics made that a spot that road grit would hit it. That is a big "if" though. Certainly seems odd though, but a car maker would not spends 2 cents without a good reason.

Picked up my G70 tonight and specifically asked what the film was for and was told that it’s purposely placed there because that’s where it’s most common for rust to occur. I guess it makes sense?

All manufacturers do that. I've had them on my Hyundai's, Honda's, and GM vehicles. They are supposed to be there, that's why your dealer didn't remove them. I sell several of them a day to body shops.

I think they are also there for potential road debris bad spots...no?

Yeah they are hotspots. There is also a hotspot in the middle of the back door meeting the rear fender too!

FWIW, my wife's 2014 WRX also has them as well, just larger.

I have the same and was curious if it was there for long term or only until received by customer.
