  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Unusually High Insurance Premium

Great deal for sure.

Called USAA to complain about the insurance rate. They had one of the actuaries re-run my policy. It came down $160. Not bad. Was told to take Defensive Driving to get another discount.

Excellent! Congrats...good move.

I pay about $80 bucks a month, and that's with second car/house discount.

You guys are lucky. In California I pay about $1950 for a 12 month policy from AAA. $1M liability, $1000 deductible. I have a great driving record and I'm over 65 yrs old. To the OP your rates seem awfully high to me. Traditionally I always thought Oklahoma had low rates. You might want to check 21 Century, Mercury and AAA if they offer in Okla. They have the lowest pricing consistently here in Los Angeles.

I got a quote from my agent yesterday on a 2015 5.0, it’s almost double what in paying on my Lexus LS. My agent told me the Genesis has a high insurance score, so higher premiums. We did some comparison rate shopping using different cars and discovered that a lot of cars with the highest IIHS safety scores also have some of the highest insurance premiums. Go Figure!

Just got a quote for repairs yesterday. The headlight assembly had minor damage but enough to replace it so $1700 for that, $700+ for the grill etc. Not a cheap car to repair. OTOH, the front end did a good job protecting me from damage. Car was stopped when I got hit and hardly felt it.

Insurance is not a lot more than my cars of the past so no complaints.

Made an account just to reply to this as I was worried about insurance on my soon to be 2015 5.0 and felt it was important to post my findings.

Right now I pay about $105 a month for full coverage, 100k/300k with $500 deductible for a 2005 altima 3.5L. I'm a ~30yr old Male with old speeding tickets (>8 yrs ago), a couple accidents that I filed claims for in the last few years (not my fault, rear ended while stopped) and I live in FL (High rates actually, when compared to putting my address in say, Indiana, my rates went to about $80/mo).

Online quotes for similar or even LESS coverage on a 2015 genesis 5.0 ultimate was $200-230+ a month!! Even cut rate places like "the general" gave absurdly high rates for me, some places had it at almost $300/mo.

While I was ready to eat the cost as this was my dream car since I saw it in 2014, I called my current insurance provider (USAA, notorious for a higher rate but superb customer service and coverage) and got a quote for the same coverage on a 2015 5.0 ultimate as I have on my 2005 altima 3.5.

Results were my insurance would increase by about $12 a month!! Idk wtf all the other insurance companies are using to give quotes online but I highly recommend calling your insurer for a quote instead of relying on a website.

I've had the same agent for about 30 years. I checked out one the the heavy TV advertisers just to see what they could do. They were $700 more! A week later I got a follow up from one of their agents and he offered some discounts that brought me close to even but too little too late. The few times I'd had problems, the agent took care of things quickly. Like same day glass replacement.

Wow! Michigan is outrageous.

When I was young, I remember hearing about insurance discounts when you hit age 25 and after x years of safe driving and add homeowners for extra discounts and multiple car discounts, etc., etc.
... What actually happens is not what you hear. At least the dream doesn't come true in reality or didn't for me. My insurance seemed to never be cheaper than when I was 18 and driving a 1976 Trans Am 455 4speed I bought brand new. If I remember correctly my insurance was $300 or so a year. If not correct then every six months. Not sure but one or the other is correct. I lived in GA, still do, and my insurance was with the Farm Bureau Ins Agency.
... As I got older, car prices went up and so did insurance rates. I think I bought that car brand new for $6000 and change. I kept it 6 years and only put 36k miles on it and sold it, for about $3600 if I remember correctly.
... Point is that my insurance rates are still going up although I am driving a 2006 Mazda3 and my wife drives the 2012 Genesis, because all new cars cost more to repair. Not due to either of us having accidents or tickets. And even though the law requires you to have insurance, not everyone does and we also pay more because of that and increasing lawsuits for fake injuries.
... Sorry for the rant, I got my insurance statement yesterday on my motorcycles!

Wasn't Montana the last state with no speed limits? Aside from hitting animals at high speed, it seems like an odd one to me.

I live in Vancouver Canada, I pay $210 a month for insurance, no accidents.
but I have 200 comprehension (vandalism fire, and theft) 300 collision, and 3 million liability

My insurance came in less than we originally thought it would be. $707 for 12 months full coverage, $500,000 liability and $500 deductability on comp and collision. 2015 3.8 AWD Ultimate. Westbend Insurance and I’m in Minnesota.

Mine is 73.50/m for my 2015 5.0 which is a drop from my last 2012 Genesis 5.0 R-Spec. It was closer to $100/m. People really bitch about insurance rates here in Ontario, but from the sound of it we're not half bad!

18' sport - clean record - FL - Cheapest I found was Geico at $203 per month. Bodily is $50,000/$100,000. Property is $50,000 with a $1,000 deductible. I reached out to an agent to shop around for me as well. My Tucson is about half the cost of the Genesis.

Florida is now in the number 3 spot as of 2018 for highest insurance rates (Michigan still holding strong in the #1 spot. Keep it up!)

Depends on the city too. I just moved to FL in Manatee county. I got 100/300 with 500 deductible coverage for $1570 a year from Safeco.. Just paid it Monday, closed on new house Tuesday. Just got phone and internet too.

I live in Dunedin which unfortunately is "Pinellas". Dunedin is a great town (retirement town mostly) with a very low crime/theft rate. Not sure which model you drive but if I could get $2,000 annually, I would call it a win! haha

Congrats on the move by the way!

I live in Calgary Canada am 73 retired & pay $857 year for my 2016 3.8 AWD Luxury with 2 cars on policy.
