  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have always been a fast moving guy and I was wondering if any of our R-spec ers has had the Genesis on the limiter. I'm considering an R-spec but I have never had enough room to to really let mine out. about 115 max. If you have had a chance how does she handle at a buck fifty? I'm not speeding officer, just flying low, I do have my pilots license!

This is from MotorTrend driving 2010 4.6 V8 across Europe. "Munich to Vienna
The Long Way, Because We Feel the Need for Speed - Hammer time! We're on the A92 autobahn that runs from Munich to Deggendorf, a small town of no particular importance except for the fact that it's at the end of one of the quieter and less speed-limited superhighways in southern Germany. We're here to see whether the Genesis can run with all those fancy Bimmers and Audis that are built within a few miles of this road. The Genesis might have been designed and engineered in Korea, but the Tau V-8 feels eerily German in its power delivery. It's smooth and linear till about 3000 rpm, then you get a noticeable surge as the engine gets a second wind; old Benz V-8s used to feel just like this. At 3000 rpm in top, the Genesis is cruising at 110 mph and could do it all day long. Wind and road noise are impressively hushed, and the car feels surprisingly relaxed. It doesn't take too much of a gap in the traffic for the Genesis to surge to 130, then 140 mph. We see an indicated 150 mph a couple of times. "

I haven't gotten my past 100 for but a few brief seconds:D But when I was shopping for mine, I read pretty much every article/review I could find on the internet. Quite a few reviewers had it up to 150 (on a closed track of course) and noted it was calm and composed. The concensus was that it was more incredible to just be going that fast in a Hyundai. This was for the old 4.6L models. So the R-spec should be even better with more power and better suspension now.

Ok I like to go fast, and the numbers tickets I have gotten proofs that...:D A couple of months ago I was out on a lonely SE Minnesota highway and not a car in sight and I had a nice straight road for about 1 to 2 miles so I decided to see what my 5.0 Genesis could do. All I can say is HOLD ON I was at 150 mph  before I knew it, and figured that was good for know. The car and engine had more power to go, but I chickened out. Very impressed with this car.

I was very pleasantly surprised at how the rSpec handled at 150. Got mine up that high on K-10 hwy between Kansas City, MO and Lawrence, KS. Felt like I was doing 80 in my old car. Not sure how different this would be compared to the 4.6 as they are so similar...

I have a 4.6 and I got mine up to 155 and and it felt very stable. I had rpm left so I want to know if it’ll hit 160

I had my Rspec up too 156 I would of went faster but I had the sunroof open , I was changing lanes at 140 MPH trying to go around a mustang, I know 160 is easy .Speedo said 160 MPH but GPS says 156 MPH rock solid no hood vibration, just the sound of the roof about to come off, wished I had closed it I'm sure 165 would of been reached. 20181128_064112.webp

A+ for you ! I know I have been 130+ in my Rspec and that was simply a "quick" race. This car can handle 160 (assuming your tires can) no problem. This engine is a beast

I don't know, over 130 the back of my hood, nearest the windshield starts to vibrate and @ 140+ gets me worried. The problem is that going past 100 to 130+ is very quick for a sedan, probably based on its extremely low Cd of .26 ( same as a 2016 corvette). That aside the car/suspension is quite quiet and steady at these speeds.

my car was in a high speed chase the NHP said it was going over 150 mph and he could not catch up to it in his hemi charger until it hit the divider. my personal best was 145 mph ish real close to 150 mph.

Roc,

What is Cd of .26?
I googled and can't find anything.

Thanks.

You got it. See Wikipedia list of cars to get an idea how efficient the Genesis design is.

Well the other day a Mustang tried to pass me ans he could not. By the time I looked down we were doing 135 and it was as smooth as silk but rock solid.

Maxed out my '15 5.0 several times...hits 146 and computer shuts her down. Have verified the speed with GPS and it will do it in 6/7/8th gear. Michelin Pilot Sports as well...

Wow that's crazy, glad you got her back! I've went up to about 120 a few times before I shut her down. Coming from a Cobalt SS, I'm amazed at how smooth it is at speed.
