  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone know how to have a cell phone hotspot work at the airwave reception for on-board features such as google search?

I've chosen not to spend the $100 per month (or so) to pay for the car's connection to cell towers and receive the added features. I was wondering, however with all you smart geeks - has anyone tried to use your own cellular device as the internet source for the car's features? I find the search engine embedded in the GPS to be poor, however the google search option worked well when I had my complimentary air time. Thoughts? BTW - mine is a 2015 5.0.

Google worked well with BlueLink and far less than $100 a month. What other features are you talking about?

Apologies - yes $100 per YEAR ($97.64 to be exact - not month!) - sorry. Since I have a cell phone, I really have no desire to pay Hyundai for a search capability at that price.

To the question, do you know of any means to have my phone as a hotspot enable the functions?

Highly unlikely that can be done. I would think the car uses a cell connection to get that information and not a wifi connection.

I agree with you 100%. Why pay Genesis to duplicate what your celll phone already can do. Just request guidance via Google on cell phone and play audio instructions on car system via bluetooth.

And how do you do that; I haven't been able to from either a Samsung or Moto G4 Plus??

Yes, some cars have Android issues, and some Android phones have car issues - hence why I posted the specific question I posted!

My Moto G4 worked fine with my 2018 F90 with no fuss. Does your blue tooth pair with your car?

Different car/different software; you have Android Auto. Yes, phones pair with car, looks like you can stream Google MAps from the phone, but, of course, can only have one source at a time

If you go into settings, then wifi, look for your phone's hotspot. I don't have hotspot on phone (refuse to pay extra). If the Google part works without going through Hyundai this should work for you.

Path of least resistance... Step 1. Buy an iPhone. Step 2. Use Siri eyes free integration.

Hotspotting to WiFi could be used to download Apps to the DIS, only they killed the Apps so none are available to download ..

It's a bummer that Android integration was ignored on the 2015 Ultimates, cie la vie.
