  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Im looking to get back into another genesis sedan i found one for 3500 with 197k miles. Its a 2009 4.6 1 owner. Anyone over 200k? My previous was a 2013 3.8 with 107k when i sold it did not have one problem.

I have 191-192k on my 2009 4.6 Genesis. I haven't had any major mechanical issues with it and the interior and exterior are still in good shape for it's age/miles.

I know it's dependent on a lot of things but to me $3500 seems a little on the cheap side unless there are issues that need to be addressed. But it might just be that you found a good deal too. Do you have a link to the ad for the car?

Get it checked over. No matter what brand of car, when you have that many miles, things can go wrong. Expensive things. Or it can go another 100k with nothing major. There was that million mile Elantra, maybe this will be the same.

thats impressive, also sounds like a great price. but yeah id get it looked over. make sure no major issues at the same time you cant expect everything to be perfect.

Its most likely going to need major maintenance services. Ie. Approx. cost - Spark plugs $10.00 each, fuel filter and fuel tank air filter 400.00, Transmission service 400.00 to 800.00 including pan/filter replaced, driveshaft center bearing 300.00, Rear diff. oil replaced 50.00, Brakes ?
That said , we put over 220,000 miles on our 2011 4.6 and it was a near perfect car with proper maintenance. traded it because the rear diff developed a good bit of lash due to the miles. Rear end was going to cost 2000.00 to 3000.00 including labor. If it was going to be only an around town commuter we would have kept it and not worried about the rear diff. lash.

If you're able to do the work yourself a lot of that stuff is relatively cheap. NGK 4469 spark plugs are $5 a piece. Trans filter and drain/refill was $170 (for ZF 6 speed), rear diff fluid is $20-$30. Like any high mileage car it all depends on how it was previously maintained.
