  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have 2015 genesis 3.8 awd with 70,000 miles and also bought warranty throutmy auto loan credit union.
What is the hyundai warranty on
1. auto folding side mirror problem? Passenger side is making loud clicking noise and not foldig them when i lock my car while driver side folds in.
2. Smart trunk not beeping and opening them anymore when i stand behind locked car. ( i checked valet mode in glove box and the settings in the car)
3. When i unlock my trunk from the car or key fob trunk will only crack open and not open all the way like it use to.

All of that, whether you bought it new or used, is covered under the 5yr/60k miles bumper to bumper warranty. So, with it being at 70k miles, they are all out of Hyundai warranty. You'd have to go through you aftermarket warranty and see if they are covered.

Just a note on the trunk thing. If you don't have the auto open feature on the truck (if it doesn't have a physical button like this: ) then there is not going to be anything you can do to make it open by itself (even though I it used to).

When my car was new if I pushed the button, the trunk would "spring" open slowly on its own (sometimes it still does randomly). But that was just due to whatever fresh/new hardware was on the hinge. Over time it stopped springing all the way open. When I asked the dealership about it, they told me that the trunk opening all the way like that was just something that some of the models did and was not part of the design. He showed me a brand new Genesis on the lot that didn't do it. (The guy at my dealership was really into the G80's when they first came out and he noticed a lot of these little differences). In 2015 if you wanted the auto trunk open, you needed the Ultimate.

Ok I get that its wear and tear item like the spring effect that is causing it to spring open might been worn out. Another thing is its not beeping 3 times anymore when i stand behind the trunk. Smart trunk option is checked on in the menu and car was locked by key fob.

Just a thought here but try locking the car with the outside door handle The walk away for 1 min (trunk won’t operate within 15 sec after locking or if key is in car). Come back behind the car and see if the trunk beeps.

Yep tried that and no beep. It used to prrfectly fine with trunk open fully wide open when i press the trunk release button or standing behind the trunk. About 10 month ago trunk still beeped but only would crack open and open very slowly sometime not even open all the way just little crack. Now it does not even beep and only cracks open.

So did you figure out if it is covered?

So i finally took the car into the dealer yesterday. After diagnosing i need new mirror assembly, trunk lift arms and body control module. According to the tech he cant get through the body control module thats why smart trunk is not working. Whatever that means. So my aftermarket warranty will cover full execpt paint job on new mirror assembly. Total bill is about $1,400. Also got 2019 elantra SLE with 60 miles on odometer as a loaner. First time using LKA. I like the idea but software is not that smart compare to other cars. But the blind spot assist was nice to have. Wish it would beep at you while lighting up.

No, you don't want it to beep when lighting up. In some conditions it would never stop and drive you nuts. . It will beep when you put the turn signal on indicating a lane change though.

Got it. For sure the touch screen is more responsive and user interface is better on the new elentra compare to the genesis

here is the update. Got a call saying car will be ready and i should come over pick it up. When I arrived i was told that for some reason they can't get the car to recognize the keyfob so smart trunk still does not work. Service manager didnt tell me when i should expect to finish. they don't know what is wrong. He gave me the keys back to Elantra saying i can take it home again for time being.. Anybody been through this problem or possibly know what is going on with my car?

We have sold a couple smart key antenna's that go behind the rear bumper cover.

So what does that mean? I didnt need to get whole new body control module for smart trunk to work again?
Ok. I reread your question. I missed the part where you said that they can't get it to recognize the fob. So if they replaced the BCM, and they can't get it to recognize the keys, sounds like something else might be going on. Find it hard to believe that they got a bad BCM out of the box, but it is possible. There is a separate module for the smart keys as well. I have never sold a BCM or a smart key module for a '15+ Genesis, but have sold several antennas. I'm sure they are working with Hyundai's tech line to figure it out.

Its been 9 days since i dropped my car off at dealer and tech still cant figure out why keyfob is not recognizing for smart trunk after replacing body control module.
