  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I live in Sierra Vista, AZ, which is about 70 miles south of Tucson AZ on I-10. I purchased my 2018 Genesis G80 from Jim Click Genesis in Tucson, AZ February 2018. Since then, for some reason I do not understand - Jim Click lost their Genesis dealership sometime last years (and I was never notified). Now, the closest Genesis dealership to me is in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area which is more than 200 miles from where I live. So, if anything happens to my car that is under the Genesis warranty, I will have to drive my car (and another car) 200+ miles to Phoenix, drop off my car and drive back home, then return to Phoenix to pick up my car when it is fixed and drive back home - because there are no longer any Genesis dealerships in Southern, AZ. Add that up - that is 800+ miles on one car, and 400+ miles on my Genesis - plus 12 hours of driving time if anything goes wrong with my car. What CHAPS my ass on this - there IS a Hyundai dealership right here in Sierra Vista, but they are not authorized to do warranty work on Genesis vehicles and wont touch it (wonderful)! Not to mention, according to Genesis dealers in Phoenix, the best trade-in I can get for my car (1 year old) is $32K (Feb 2019). That is $20K/40% loss in 1 year. So I cannot even DUMP the car without losing $15K+. I thought I bought a luxury car with service equal to BMW/Mercedes - no where close!

Do I like my Genesis G80? Yes I do.
Would I buy one again: Never, not with this mess I have to live with.

Moral to this story: Be very, very careful before you decide to purchase a Genesis; do NOT assume that the dealership you bought it from will still be there after you buy the car - like I did. Make sure you have a Plan-B for where you will get your Genesis repaired is something happens to it. Think about that before you take your Genesis on a long drive/vacation!

Too bad I'm just seeing this now but if you still have your G80 you can take it into Jim Click Hyundai at the auto mall in Tucson.

I too have a G80 Sport and have taken my car in multiple times for warranty work. Hope this helps and have a great day.

Sorry to learn about your chapped ass.

You bought a car 4.5 years ago and you are complaining about depreciation?

Times change. Your dealer decided that he didn’t want to invest in the upgrades to his facilities that Genesis demands these days. It’s an economic decision for your dealer. Genesis wants exclusive dealerships.

As you say, bad move by Genesis to alienate happy customers. I think you should sell your car and move on.

I think the OP was complaining about depreciation for his '18 G80 perhaps a year after he bought in as the post was dated Jan '19. That was then, this is now. I suspect IF he still had the G80, his trade in would be worth around $30K+ now as the pandemic has sent used car prices up through the roof.

My Bad. Long story but I have only one good eye at the moment. Hopefully a temporary condition.

Same boat! I live in Yuma and Genesis stopped supporting the vehicles sold here for warranty work. Still like my G80, but feeling a little left out in the cold.
