  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What's that?

I was cleaning out the floorboards for the first time today and found in front of the passenger's seat a small plastic panel about 1"x 5". It is set in the floor and marked PULL. So I pulled. It lifted up and exposed a small square hole in the floor, but there doesn't seem to be any purpose. Anyone got a clue for me? I looked in the manual but I never seem to be able to find what I'm looking for in there.
Another question... I found some papers in the glove compartment with the name and address of the previous owner/leaser. Would I be a total stalker if I contacted him about the car? Full disclosure; I did stalk him on Facebook :-) I am just curious as to his experience with the car and if there is anything special I should be aware of. He may even have been on the forums but I did a quick search and didn't turn anything up.

Hi. I think you’ll find a vin plate under that little hatch,at least that’s what the online owners manual says is under there. As far as hunting down a previous owner goes, personally I wouldn’t like it. And what good will it do if he had troubles with the car than hopefully they were fixed but if not.... I just don’t see what good would come of it. Just my opinion. Enjoy the car. I’ve had mine for less than a month and I’m loving it.

It’s the vin stamp for the chassis. New federal requirement As of Jan 2017. But manufacturers were required to be compliant before then if their model was not due a redesign by then.

So a lot of the 2015+ Have it.

Thanks. And Mr. Incredible, too. I didn't see a number under there but wasn't looking for that. Will look at it if I ever clean the floors again :)

I agree about the previous owner. Although I would get a kick out of talking with someone who got one of my old cars, I have to agree that 1) not everyone is as easy going as me, and 2) you are right, I might not really want to know the nitty gritty details. So far, ignorance has been bliss. 1200 miles over the next two days should tell me all I need to know about the car. Oh boy! Road trip!

Why not just mail him the papers? Include a note with your phone # and email address and see if he'll tell you anything about the car and just leave it up to the other person. They may think it's cool and if not then you were just being nice and mailing stuff back to him. I wouldn't think there's anything stalkerish about that.

Good idea. I might do that. Thanks!
