  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Burger Motorsports JB4 high performance tuner for Genesis vehicles

Actually not true. The JB4 app used to be bad...and it was pulled by the dev. It has just recently been put back.

Terry disagrees with that.

The sampling rate from OBDII apps and cell phone CPS just isn't fast enough to be accurate. It'll spit out a time that you can compare to previous times but ultimately neither of them will be true.

Fwiw, he's said we can run Map 3 with high quality fuel (I forget the exact verbiage). A lot of people are using it with regular 93 octane. I did it for a few weeks and didnt have any issues. Terry looked at my logs and said they were good to go. But since I'm RWD Map 3 gives me huge traction issues that result in my car being slower than Map 2. Speaking of traction, have you toyed with the boost by gear settings yet? Are you RWD or AWD?

Head over to the JB4 Mobile forum. Not sure if Terry knows of the update. Via OBDII...you know the moment the car goes over 0 and hits 60...and obviously time. The developer must have improved something since it’s been re-released.

Not going to argue the point as I’ve done real world testing against other cars, etc. Even stopwatch.

I tried Map 3 and it didn’t feel right...logs were off as well.

Not blowing another $150 on a Dragy. Perhaps I’ll encounter some local to me that has one to borrow. I could buy from Amazon and return...but that’s a ***** move.

@Beefer ....sorry to burst your bubble bud, but Kamauxx is actually right about accuracy of the app vs. Dragy.

Yesterday, I decided to have some fun, so I added 6gal of E85 and top it off with 92 octane (they didn't have 93) switched to Map 5 and ran a few 0-60 and every time the app was off between .1-.2 of a second. As you can see below, the app clocked me at 4.50 sec and Dragy at 4.68
So far, this is my best time.

But but.....if the app is right, then I'm not that far behind ya!

^ Map #0 put me at 4.5 seconds. Map #2 at 4 seconds. So...I’m sticking to it.

I might get a Dragy one day, etc...but for now...$150 to use it once is definitely a dumb purchase.

Makes sense to me. Stock we are supposed to be 4.5. I dont know if it's me but my car feels so much faster than the 2 I test drove and the stinger test drive.

Honestly, 4.0,4.1, 4.2...I’m still impressed and can’t wait to eventually get one myself

Honestly, I'll back down to using Map 2, more likely remove fuel wires as well. But as of now, I want to see how much we can squeeze out of those engines/turbos, lol I know, there is still room for more, but I'm not gonna try.

I'm still fastest G80 sport around the block ;)

Remember, those are manufactures claims. They are made under the absolute best of circumstances. Best tire pressure. Best prepped surfaces. Best ambient temp, etc.

Often times reviewers beat manufacturers claims. Particularly in the Stinger's case Kia claimed 0-60 in 4.7 but Car and Driver and Motor Trend were able to best it.

Using an OBDII or cell phone app for comparisons between mods is a great way to check the effectiveness of the mod but relying on them for accurate metrics will leave you with inaccurate times. The sampling rate of the OBDII port and of cell phones GPS isn't high enough. This has been well documented on the interwebz, even on the Stinger forum. People doing back to back testing of OBDII loggers are usually a third to half second faster than the exact same car using the more accurate Dragy at the same time. (similar to what Dareck posted)

One thing I'll say is you don't need any additional hardware to know the JB4 has made you way faster. You can feel the difference as soon as you give it a little throttle.

How's your traction? Did they give you guys any boost by gear control for the JB4?

I'm AWD, so no spin at all on dry surface, asphalt, concrete.

I was thinking about to test it with "boot by gear" that's a Map 6 if I remember correctly, but I'm not sure (yet) how and where to set it, I don't want to screw it, lol

Ahhh, AWD luckiness. I'm RWD and have summer tires so traction is non-existent if I get on it. Even with 285s.

You're thinking boost by RPM on map 6. Boost by gear allows for PSI reductions in first, second, and third gear. So if for example someone is spinning in first they can set it to "2" and the JB4 will reduce total PSI in first gear by 2. Alot of ppl use it to get better launches but in map 3 and above there's really no way to fix the spinning.

So, basically this will reduce boost, good thing for RWD guys to avoid spinning. What about AWD? can we increase boost? or there isn't anything else for us, lol

Map 6 is fully configurable for custom boost based on rpm!

As the AWD drivers start adding more mods they can benefit from it as well. Once you start adding down and mid-pipes, intakes, FMIC, etc even AWD will lose traction.

I know it would, but it ain't happening, the car stays stock.

Still waiting for a good downpipe and midpipe product to be released. I want something that keeps both cats, but upgrades to high-flow, and possibly a divorced downpipe.

Hopefully some day a bigger turbo kit will come out, but, I'm beginning to lose hope. It's such a tight fit in there as it is, and the stock turbos are TINY.

its gonna be a slow one for these things to come out. Ive been lurking on the stinger forums to see what vendors theyre using and anytime I see something I like Ive been emailing those vendors to come on down to the G70 board. No one has responded.

I went through this when the Genesis Coupe came out. I bought my as a 2010 model and the parts were barely starting to get made. It was about a year before the first canned tune became available and was tested to the point people felt comfortable with it. (Beyond Redline/Exceladyne...come back I miss you)

Im thinking a year at least for exhaust/suspension mods to be available. the vendors have to see there is enough interest to recoup their R&D and tooling costs

LAP3 has developed larger turbos and an ECU tune to go with it for the Stinger. The car in question is over 600 whp.

From pics I've seen the G70s bay looks identical to the Stinger. So those upgrades will probably work. But they are STUPIDLY EXPENSIVE (someone reported its over $10k).

There's someone else on the Stinger forum who has swapped out to a different Turbo setup but he's having issues getting it tuned. He ran a best of mid-11s with a bad tube, if I remember correctly.

You should get in contact with vendors that deal with Korean parts/suppliers.

The G70 has been available in SK for quite a while. No way those guys aren't modding the crap out of their cars. If someone can find out who their supplier is you'll be golden.

Have you checked JunBl?
