  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've had the car for about 10 months and theres about 26k miles on it.
I have this strange electrical issue that I can't quite figure out.
It's happened about 5 or 6 times so far.
I'll get in the car, press the brake and attempt to start, seat begins to move into memory position and then everything just cuts out and it doesn't start.
When it does this, I use my key to open the trunk, and if I grab the positive battery cable and give it a small jiggle, all of the electronics light back up and the car starts no problem.
I've tried disconnecting the positive cable and cleaning the terminal, and after doing that I didn't have the problem for a few weeks but it recently happened again so I'm just trying to see if anyone has had this happen, or something similar, and has a fix for it.
I'd also to clarify when I say everything cuts out, I mean literally nothing works as if the battery has been disconnected.

Thanks in advance.

Check the other end of the cable. Taking off the one end may be just enough to get the other end making better contact. Check the other cable too.

Ed, thanks for the reply
Where does the other end of the cable lead to?

Usually goes to the starter, but I've not had need to check if anything different on the Genny.

I'll give it a shot! I'll post an update once I get the chance
