  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My frustration levels of this Genesis app are increasing, I understand some apps take a while to boot up, but this one is one of the longer ones that I have.
Now some times it says my "token" is up and I manually have to log in again.....Just want to start my car.
If your car is unlocked, it will deny starting it instead of locking and then starting......more time elapsed....Just want to start my car.
Took my car to the dealer to get the window moldings replaced, thought I would engage the valet and max speed alerts just in case some unauthorized person takes my car for a joy ride........NOPE......DENIED AGAIN.
Tried to use the car locator.........NOPE.....have to be with in one mile of the car for this to work????? how stupid is that! I can start the car from anywhere on the planet but I'm not allowed to know where it's running????
The app referred me to the MYGENESIS website to activate the desired alerts.......NOPE.....cant be done there either.....WTF good is this APP?????
I understand that the app can't turn on the heat/cooled seats or the rear window defroster or the heated steering wheel or the heated mirrors.....does not provide that.....but I would expect the provided features to work.....come on Genesis, get with the program!!!!

Just tried the valet and speed alert. Said it saved successfully. 90% of the time my app (on iPhone XS) open right up (about a second). Yesterday I did get the bad token message. I just pressed login and it logged me back in. I do have remember me checked on the login screen.

Yes the app could be better but I think you have something more going on, maybe your location or connection.

I got the "expired token" message but logged right in. I assume you checked the box to stay logged in.

I share your frustration with locking doors first. My aftermarket remotes in other cars were able to do it as part of the normal procedure. Handy since I never lock my doors. Other functions do work OK.

My Android version is 2.8.17 Be sure you have the latest version. There was an update a couple of weeks ago.

Android 6.0
Switch on alerts, app says they are saved, then a minute later I get a txt saying my attempt failed.
App version 2.8.17

To clarify. The Android version of the Genesis app is 2.8.17
The Android version on my phone is Version 8

I wonder if you have some compatibility issues. OTOH, if it says you failed you at least communicated with the BlueLink servers.

did you install the accompanying valet/speed alert app on the car in the GPS system? if not they will not work on the mobile phone app until you do.

as for boot up time, I suspect that is more likely your phone. . I've never had an issue, boot up is less than 5 seconds.

the expired token, yes, if you have not used the app for a period of time it will sign you out and require you to sign back in, pretty normal in todays overly secure, password happy, hacker infested world. many apps do this, the Lexus app was horrible, logged me out weekly. but it is what it is, with Finger Print or FaceID enabled on the app it takes only a few seconds to sign back in..

I have to say it must have been horribly frustrating for people driving from about the early 1910s until about 15 years ago when they actually had to use a key to unlock and open, then start their cars.. Even worse for the people from the 1960s to the 1990s that had to use 2 keys, one for the doors and an entirely different one for the ignition. Damn imagine when one actually had to push a lever to adjust the temp in the car and air conditioning was an OPTION...

Yeah I know......1st world problems, oh my. Never the less, I paid for the options they should work. Just like when Dad ordered a radio for his Buick back in 1941 he expected it not just to exist, but to operate as promoted.

So I presume I have to navigate through the NAV system to activate the alert features?
That is probably in that 2 inch thick encyclopedia of a NAV manual I have.

Valid point about the 1 mile limit to locate the car. I suspect this may be intentional. But then why allow starting it regardless of distance? I would think locating the car regardless of distance would be sader than starting it and also very useful.

my car is at the dealership so I can't go out and verify, but as I recall you have to first connect the car to a Wi-Fi, this allows you to download the apps, then I believe the apps screen is in the blue-link menu, there is only one set of apps for the car (though it appears they designed it for more) which is the app for the alerts, download and install the apps to the car, then try the phone app again.

If you can't figure it out and can hang a day or two I will make a video on it when I get my G80 Sport back.

Awesome! I'll be around a while 5YR 60,000mile warranty;)
My sport is is the shop too, getting the uglified window moldings replaced.
Seems it should be easier to enable than that tho.
Years ago I bought a little device called pocketfinder to track my daughter that had substance abuse issues, it worked wonderfully, could find her local,, her speed, when the vehicle moved and geo fences plenty....wasn't very expensive and 12 bucks a month with no contract. Stuff like that should be a breeze for an auto manufacturer.

except you forget about the Government Regulations and Safety Requirements and other such hoops car manufacturers have to jump through.

You may get into privacy issues too, especially if the system gets hacked. Of course, Google knows where you are.

Been having he same issue for over a month, as well. I either get the "token expired" message or, most of the time, I get "Previous Command Must End"; even though I haven't set a function. Super annoying when I have to try 5+ times to get the function to go through.

I've been having similar issues for over a month. With the exception of the failed update a couple of months ago, the app worked fine for four years. Here's a summary of the problems I'm having.

After I open the app, I receive a notification that the app is running. No other apps give this notification. Tapping the notification brings me to the App Info screen with an option to force stop the app. If I don't force stop the app, then the next time I use it I'll frequently get the "Previous Command Must End" error message. If I force stop the app, then it takes several seconds to load, but I don't get the "Previous Command Must End" message. I have received the "Expired Token" message several times, but I haven't received it recently (I can't recall if I've received it since the app was updated to 2.8.18).

The results are similar whether I use the app or the widget. Until this started happening (probably a couple of months ago), the widget would reliably start the car and I don't recall ever receiving the "Previous Command Must End" message.

My phone is a Note9 running Android version 9. The issue started with my previous phone (Galaxy S6 running Android version 8), but I wouldn't receive the app is running notification. The Genesis app version is 2.8.18.

I have no issues with version 2.8.18 on iOS 12.2.

are all the issues expressed here with Android or Apple OS? I'm curious to know if this is isolated to a particular OS and or Genesis App version, or if it is more wide spread.

I use my app daily from either my Echo Dot, iPhone or Apple watch, with no issues ever.

So I had the expired token thing when I first set up my Connected Services. I think what I did to fix it was log in without the "remember me" checked and then logged out manually from the app. Maybe restart your phone at that point, then go to log in and make sure to check the remember me box before filling out your information.

I think it forgets you after 14 days. On iOS anyway!

Success ! Thanks Mr. Incredible, down loaded the app and the alerts work like a champ.
Whoda thunk these features wouldn't be enabled on day 1. Lazy uniformed delivery on the dealers part I guess.

I will agree with that assessment.

My sales rep sent a dealer technology specialist to my house the morning after my purchase who went through all of the technology in the car and showed me how to set all of this up, in 10 months of ownership I have only found one thing that he didn’t mention, the super secret hidden valet button in the glove box.
