  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've been noticing that the underside of the trunk mat (plastic bottom) is frequently damp. At first I thought it was a leak, however, I cannot find the source of it anywhere. Only the bottom side (plastic part) is wet, the top is completely dry and the below mat is either dry or a bit damp from water droplets falling off of the plastic part.

I cleaned out the trunk and completely dry everything, then took the car for a drive, no rain. When I got back the trunk was still dry, however after the car has been sitting for 3-4 hrs, the underside of the plastic part of trunk mat is damp again. The car is parked inside the garage and there has been no rain today. Anyone happen to know the cause?

Probably condensation. Has it been humid? You have the cool air from the cabin passing through. If you were to prop up a portion of the mat so air can circulate under it, that part will be dry. The right temperature differential and humidity can do things like that.

I think you are right, its been very humid these past few days. The garage itself is at 62% right now, because it is partially underground. Its just weird that its only on the plastic part, maybe plastic is more likely to attract condensation?

The plastic is more prone to cool faster than other parts so the water can condense. If it is at the dew point you will see it.
