  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Thinking about buying a G70

All these positive comments makes it hard to wait for 2020 models to show up later in the year. G70s I have test drove so far were built from June to August of 2018. Solid lifters in the engine bother me a little bit for have not had a car with those since high school days. I can get past the lifter issue and future adjusting hassles. Insurance cost I’ll have to deal with and shop around more when the time comes. Present cost for my G37S vs the 3.3 sport were far apart by a 2X factor. I’m hoping Allstate chills some on their costing models by the time 2020s hit the showrooms. I still have not seen a G70 on the street yet. DFW has plenty of dealers nowadays so guess I’m never in the right spot in town at the right time.

I just left Alfa Romeo. I had a 2017 Ti Lusso Giulia. Beautiful, fast, interesting car.

The car lived at the dealership for repairs - not a huge issue.

.
LOL....... C'mon MrMegadeth..... Not a huge issue that a new or even used car more or less is at the shop all the time??? THAT SUCKS BALLS BEYOND BELIEF !!!!!! That is BELOW Grade F !!!:ROFLMAO::D

Well, I have more than one car and a motorcycle. So for me, at the time, it wasn't but now that I only have 1 car and the bike, on a rainy day I'd be pissed.

Plus, in theory they gave me a loaner...just so happened to be a damned minivan

I don't blame you about the lifters. They use shims to get the correct valve clearance, so when the valve lash runs out of spec you have to put in thicker shims.

Although more complicated, I miss the rocker arm style valvetrain where you could just adjust valve lash by turning a screw, instead of having to buy stupid shims.

Even right now I can hear a tiny bit of valve tap on the driver's side bank. But that's only because I'm real OCD about those kind of things and have a really well trained ear for it. I'm sure it's within spec, I mean it's brand new, but I like having them nice and tight.

Right with ya on the lash adjustment screw. Back off the jam nut, adjust the screw, check gap with feeler gage, lock-her down and be done. Would be interesting if an after market company made drop in hydraulic lifters to replace the solid ones. I don’t plan to race or take to a track so that higher RPM advantage you can achieve with solids, not sure I really need. Would trade that for no ticking. I’m assuming the oil system would work ok with hydraulics?
