  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
2G Genesis Sedan (2015-2016)
Hi guys,

I am looking to buy a new center console bezel for my 2015 Genesis. The previous owner basically trashed the car so I'm trying to replace a bunch to restore it to it's former glory. I found this bezel on ebay but it's not the auto hold console and thus doesn't have the buttons for that feature, parking assist or heated steering wheel. The seller is telling me I am able to replace the buttons and install it, can anyone confirm or deny that claim? I'm assuming it won't work because on the Hyundai parts website, they have one for each model but can't be sure. Please let me know. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Barret

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
the blanks should be removable and your switches moved to the bezel, this is the way manufacturing is typically done, one part that uses multiple configurations, simplifies the manufacture process and saves money.

the parts diagram might be set up where the switches are not sold as a separate serviceable part but rather a complete just plug and play part (opposed to having a tech move switches over). But from a consumer POV you should be able to move the switches.

That makes sense, Hopefully that's correct. I really appreciate the response, I'm going to go ahead and try it out. I can't stand looking at all the burnt plastic from this persons lack of care. Thank you very much :)

Unfortunately it does and I've been battling that for over a year now. I got a few grand off the price because of it but it's been a challenge to say the least. I've tried just about everything but the smell is coming from the seats. Ozone machine helps probably more than anything else but once it's hot out the smell starts to really come out. I've changed the air filter, done about every product you can imagine, shampoo carpets, done several leather shampoo / conditioner products which helps temporarily. The smell is in the duct system as well but not terrible. Most people claim they can't smell it when they're in there but I always do and maybe it's just a strong sense of smell but drives me insane. Kinda ruins the entire car for me and I wish I had spent a few thousand more and gotten a clean one.

The dealership did a great job hiding the smell and I was so excited to get a Genesis I must have overlooked it. By the time I got it home from the dealership all my clothes absolutely wreaked. My girlfriends sister asked her if I was a smoker because of it. It's a thousand times better than then but hoping to kill it this summer.

there are a few videos about on secrets and tricks that help, but my dad was a smoker and the only way I really know is to replace everything you can and leave the windows open as much as possible, especially in the heat, so the air can escape.

Well thanks for all your replies I'll keep my eyes peeled. I sort of took a break during the winter since it didn't really bother me too much but now it's starting to get warm and all come back with a vengeance. I appreciate your help

have you tried damprid odor genie? They are a canister type air freshener with charcoal layer, I had something similar and put like 5-6 under the driver and passenger seat and a few in the trunk, it helped clear it up over several months (you have to replace every few weeks). The reason for the trunk is that air from the cabin flows through the trunk to the vents benind the back bumper cover but can reverse flow when car is not moving and it gets hot out. A few big box stores and DIY stores have them, as does the giant online site, around $3 a canister.

An independent shop can clean out your HVAC. You can also try just using lysol. Turn the fan on and click make sure it's NOT on circulate (need air from the outside) and spray it in the intakes just forward of the windshield wipers. Use about 2/3 of a can then turn the car off and let it sit for an hour or more. You can also try baking soda in the packs you typically put in your freezer (has a thin porous cover on one side).

My Infiniti's previous owner had a dog and the hvac smelled strongly of the pooch. The professional cleaning made that go away. Didn't know about the lysol trick. There are also these cannister "bombs" you set inside the car and let the a/c run on circulate for 5 or 10 minutes. DEFINITELY go with the unscented. I made the mistake of going with some kind of "tropical smoothie" and it smelled like chemical coconut/pineapple for WEEKS afterward. Had to drive with the windows down. Lesson learned.

Try one of those charcoal cabin air filters. Spray a bit of febreeze on it before installing. Another trick is just sprinkle baking soda everywhere and leave it for a week before you vacuum it up.

Personally, I like the smell of leather so I tossed a leather work glove under the seat to get some of that new car smell back.

Look for this, amazing stuff
