  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Nav-TV

Derek,

Will you donate one to me too because I had to read Daniel's whining?

Seriously, I want Nav-TV for my car soooo bad but the cost vs. reward seems lopsided to me. I'm in for $200 but $400 - seems high.

Tur,

We still have the 10% off if you want to get in on it.

Just an opinion from reading through this thread, it looks like GripperDon might be trying to say that NavTV appears to be operating beyond their means. The communication and product issues may be driving that opinion. Right or wrong, things like this just don't look good for any business.

Susanne/Derek . . . . . . great way to own up to the misunderstandings. I think we all understand the demands on our time and how it is almost impossible to respond to everyone in a timely matter. Kudos for meeting Daniel halfway. Hopefully he will accept your offer and put this to rest. I think we all are interested in the feedback on how this integration will work in our vehicles.

I am still waiting for word, from Ccarper, does the NAV-TV work on the Genesis ie. did he get it to work on his car. Has the replacement unit been delivered and installed and working. I still want one if it does. Seems like enough time has passed to resolve the problem..

Dear Derek and Suzanne,

First, Sorry it so long to respond to the comments and your sincere regrets of miscommunications between the three of us. Your explanation for not using the Genesis for development makes perfect sense as it does have already a lot of technology that many other cars doesn't have.

I want to apologize for taking my grevience about NAV-TV to such a public domain. During my discussions with Derek I was careful to keep them off the blogs fearing that if I talked about my potential good fortune it would backfire for one reason or another. My thought was once a VIM device or maybe some other technology developed for the Genesis I would share my experience to other bloggers on this site. Yes, I think VIM that NAV-TV has already created for the Genesis is a definite plus for the car.

When Suzanne posted that quick entry yesterday on this blog in response to my phone message minutes earlier. I felt that it should have been a private message to me that is provided by this website and not for everyone would see. In all fairness to Suzanne I now realize that she didn't know who I was because I only had dealt with Derek who is currently still away out of this country on business.

My hope is that anyone who is looking into buying a VIM device from NAV-TV for their Genesis please do contact Suzanne. This incident shows me that this company does have great customer service and is ready to whatever it takes to solve a problem if it should arise.

Sincerely,

Daniel Toye
danieltoye101@msn.com

PS. Derek, that is so generous for giving me a free VIM....Thank you very much!!!!!!

Still interested when anyone has it working on the sedan. Please tell me, I never get a reply here. Gripp :)

Personally, I wouldn't use the functionality enough to justify the price (no kids, wouldn't use it for myself while driving, and it would only be when the wife was riding along on a long trip). It would be nice if it supported more advanced functionality, such as seamless integration with their FLIR or another video input, but I guess there's only so much that can be done with the factory electronics and fiber optic bus.

Maybe if it was half as much I'd be more willing to take the leap, but I fully understand that they need to recoup their development costs, pay the bills, and still make a profit. That's probably hard to do given how niche the product is and the wide range of vehicles they need to make it work for.

New news for/to me, Thanks! I thought that Ccarper was going to be the first one. But he sent it back and best I knew was awaiting a replacement. The rep Susanne that started this thread has not answered my posts or has Ccarper so I did not know anyone had a working unit. Thanks for the info. Wondered what happened to Ccarper?

They sound a little disorganized, irrespective of what Suzanne says. They should have gotten back to you guys (and to me as well) in a more timely basis

Amazing. They sign up here, offer up a deal to users, and you guys whine because of miscommunication, or that they don't get back to you soon enough!

Free advice to Nav TV... Don't publicize the fact that your giving a free product to someone for their trouble or suddenly everyone will start offering up negative opinions online.

Guys,

Relax I was at home sick Monday and Tuesday. Look at the posts and see how fast I usually reply. I sent the replacment to Carper I am waiting to hear from him. Remember forums are one of the outlets we use and sometimes I get busy and cannot check them 100 times a day. I am also an account manager to over 1400 NAVTV accounts. Guys give a girl a break. Trust me I reply to emails, phone calls and posts as fast as I possibly can.

Daniel,
Please call me and I will get your part in the mail.

Guys I have 59 emails and 22 voicemails to reply to. As
well as online chat for our company and many many other tasks that you guys do not see. Give me a day to catch up and I will be back here soon to hang with you guys.

:D

We wanted to do this and will not do this in every case.
This was specifially for Daniel and that is it. Trust me,
we are on top of our game. You guys should visit some of the Jeep,
Dodge and Chrysler forums.......Those members support me
to the fullest. Sure I am new here and I will have to go though the
same growing pains as I did when I first started on those forums
3 years ago. :D

Susanne:

Please don't take it personally. Look at it from our end (customer) We don't doubt that you are very busy, (if sounds like over busy) translate to (over whelmed with assignments).

All I know is that I read CCarper bought a unit and and that it had a broken wire harness. This is the first time we know you returned it fixed. We had read a couple of posts from him relating to please send him RMA's and that he had not heard from you all. I personally sent him PM to inquire because you sent me a PM urging me to buy a unit ( I was very interested in it). So then a post comes from you about telling someone to stop phoning about a loan car.

( a bit short in my personal opinions)

1. I suggest that this is a form of advertising.
2. Post a fast response every time a post is directed to you or the product.
3. Illustrate that the company is very responsive.
4. Also that the company is adequately staffed to support it's products.
5. Improve QC so that defective products are never sent out.

On a personal note, I want the unit for the purpose of hearing the AUDIO track that accompanies various musical movies. There is a lack of Audio-DVD (DVD-A) for sale, that allow you to sample the music before buying, and I am tired of spending money on DVD-Audios that after I get them I don't like the music. DVD's

The sound system in the top Lexicon is the most outstanding system ever offered in any automobile. To be honest it is the primary reason I am trying so hard to fix the ride, I can't find an automobile sound system to compare with it when in the 7.1 surround mode.

Gripper,

I understand your concerns and respect your recommendations. However, I am on a total of 7 forums. Not to mention facebook and other avenues to help my company. I love my job and am in no way overwhelmed. I was out sick and did not jump on the forums. As I mentioned if you would like to go to one of my other forums and check out my relationship with the members, please do. It may help to clarify what you think is a delay of response when it is not in any way that at all. If you want the links please pm me. I do not know why gcarper did not post yet, maybe he is also sick in bed. These are forums for info and entertainment and some people do not have time to check them constantly.

Hey, give me a call. I had a nice chat with Daniel this morning.
I know what you want to do with your car, but I also need you to
realize that our product is simply a video in motion interface. From my
first post, that is all I said it would do. One really cool thing about our products that you may not know, Is that they are usb updateable. This means if we are able to add any features in the future you simply plug the interface in your computer with the provided usb cable and viola! A simple 10 minute upgrade. I will mention the needs you have to our engineers and see if they have any ideas for you.

Guess, I didn't explain my proposed usage very well. Their is no change to your system that I need you all to make. I was simply saying that I was going to only listen to the music that is the sound track on a DVD movie, not bother trying to see the video part.

I am sorry you were sick, I was really talking about things that happened over a longer period of time and mostly before your being sick. Anyway it's not worth pursuing.

Had a nice conversation with Susanne yesterday and she really does have her business together. I'll definitely recommend her to my friends and family if they have any tech needs for their automobiles.

Again thanks, Susanne

Left Voice Mail and sent you an email. Send RMA and I can get the core back to you.

HEY GCARPER !!! Understand you got a replacement unit, DID you install it yet??? How does it work??? I want to buy one would like to hear directly from someone that installed it and can speak knowledgeably about a personal installation and operation.

How did it fit, Install problems, comments about removal of CD bezel and CD unit, etc. As the little robot said " I need Information" Please.

Ok, sorry I went dark on everyone - I have been on travel for a while and finally got the new wiring harness for the NAV TV.

It has been sitting here at home for two weeks waiting on me to come home.... I love it!!!! Now I can see the DVD Music (just got done listening to U2 Live Vertigo 2005//U2 Live From Chicago in DTS 5.1.

Suzanne thanks for the quick turn on the wiring harness! It is also interesting to note that there are two video out propriety plugs for the rear headrests..... looks like I will be working a second special project to get this to work too...

I bet I can order those through a Korean distributor...

PLEASE WITHOUT TEASING ME TO DEATH !!!!!!! Details re. the rear headrests. Are you saying there is already wiring somewhere in the rear headrests that is carrying a video signal the same signal as is being shown on the NAV screen when it is in the video mode. OR are you saying there are video out ports on the NAV-TV box that can be used to provide video that you can run to the front headrests or elsewhere for use by screens to be seen by the rear occupants. I don't see any wires running up the headrests support posts.

Finally please some comments about the installation and the NAV-TV unit and install instructions.
