  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Jim Ellis has been a dealership group we have used in the past when my wife purchased her 2018 Chevrolet Traverse, so when I went to Genesis of Atlanta, AKA Jim Ellis Genesis, I had hoped for an equally good experience there as we had enjoyed at the Chevrolet dealership. I am thrilled to say that I was not disappointed.

The dealership was well maintained and well staffed, and for the time being anyway, there was a separate Genesis area with different styling and atmosphere. My sales rep was pleasant, well informed, and not pushy. As a matter of fact, I was able to complete the majority of the transaction before I went to the dealership and was able to get the deal I expected with very little back-and-forth. They were even prepping the vehicle before I had arrived.

When I got home today, my wife let me know that there was a box on the front porch that I had overlooked. I went and retrieved it, opened it, and discovered this inside:

This gesture is unexpected but much appreciated. Plus, the wooden box is quite nice, so I am impressed. All said, I would not hesitate to recommend this dealership to anyone near the Atlanta area looking for a Genesis.

I can't figure out if they will remain a Hyundai dealership or will only sell Genesis. The sign still says Hyundai I believe. They do have advertise a bunch of brand new g80s at around 50k which seems low, probably will try to add on a bunch of fees when I go there.

Many dealers still have the Hyundai signs. It will take a while for many to set up a special area or add a location, etc. Best way is to call or stop by and ask.

Genesis of Atlanta will be moving into its own building and be independent of Jim Ellis Hyundai, which will remain in its current location.

Correct they are moving Genesis showroom into their own building, but I far as I know, the service will be shared between the two.
Regardless IMHO they are one of the best around NE ATL, or I would say all of the SE from experience prospective for both Sales and service , and in my experience you will get pretty much the same level of treatment from their GMC, Kia, Hyundai, Lexus, Audi etc all the way up to their Porsche dealers...
For the first two Genesis I bought new and they where not willing to come down to the same deals I got elsewhere, but when it came to the last two CPO Genesis last December, I was willing to pay the extra dollar, in an exchange for the piece of mind and the superior dealer experience.
This does not mean the 4 major Hyundai/Genesis dealers around me are bad (although one of them did blow the 2009 4.6 engine during a routine oil change /service!), Again IMHO Jim Ellis is just several levels better than anyone else.

They must have gotten better since I purchased my 2015 Genesis 3.8 Ultimate there in April of 2018. I had a crappy experience and should have walked away from the purchase. I now go to Ed Voyles Hyundai/Genesis in Smyrna, GA.

You were buying a used car and he was buying a new car. Different staff, different service levels and of course different profit margins.

As with any auto dealership, finding the right experienced sales person within the group is key to good purchasing experience.

In my case, I asked the GM to involve another sales person, after the first one failed to listen intently to what I was after.

Certainly the other 4 dealers around me have their strengths, but it comes down what each individual is looking for.

This time around, I wanted the least hassle, as well as, keep my promise to their top notch service department that don’t make silly mistakes and I was willing to pay few extra $$ for the overall experience.

It doesn’t make a difference if I am purchasing a new or used vehicle, I should receive the same level of service. When I purchased new and used Lexus’ vehicles, I dealt with the SAME sales person. That is difference between Lexus and Genesis.

In this case it makes a difference because there are two different entities under one roof. I'm guessing you were dealing with Hyundai sales people versus Genesis sales people even though it's the same building.

No, it is the difference between those individual dealers. The car makers offer training in their brands but back at the dealership the salesman can sell what they offer, including Tupperware and encyclopedias. Many Genesis dealers are still sorting things out.

I too bought my car from this dealer, and it was a great experience. They sent me the gifts as well. I live in Mississippi and flew there to buy my car then drove it back. It's the smoothest car deal I've ever had, and I plan to continue buying from them in the future. Maybe I'll get my GV80 when the time comes.
