I posted this in the lighting section for LED turn signals, but figured I'd post here for more visability.
It's a good thing I decided to do this mod because I found some paint issues. The paint on the body under the edge of the taillight assemblies seems soft and was scraped down to bare steel by rough edges on the lights or during assembly. I lightly sanded and applied epoxy primer (in the pics), then touch up paint, then clear. I also sanded down the rough plastic on the tails to hopefully prevent this from happening again. I'll keep an eye on it for sure. If I hadn't pulled the taillights, I wouldn't have seen this until it started rusting and running streaks. Luckily I dont drive this car in the rain or snow or salt.
I recommend everyone pull the tails and at least inspect.
