  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys, this is my first car with carplay so I was hoping some one could let me know how to fix this issue (is it an issue? I hope its not supposed to be like this)

so when I plug my phone in, I get a prompt to allow use on the USB device. I click allow and carplay works. The problem is....I have to do this every day, sometimes multiple times a day. Is there a way to get it to remember and never prompt me again?

yup:

on your phone:

go to settings:

General

Carplay

select the car

turn on the option that says "allow carplay while locked"

that option was already toggled on for me :(
i toggled it off and back on again and Ill give it another try when I leave work

i found another possibility. In the new iOS update, apple created an option to not allow USB access if the phone hasnt been unlocked in the last hour. I toggled this off and Im hoping this fixes my issue

oh yeah I forgot about that, I had the same issue awhile back and another member point me in that direction as well.

This was it, haven’t had an issue since I turned it off

Thanks for the tips, guys. FYI for others, this setting is under Face ID & Passcode (iPhone X) or Touch ID & Passcode (others).

Speaking of iOS, does anyone have the newer Map version of 12.5 or newer and does iOS now allow to reply to text messages?
With the version that came with the car, you can view or read only on iOS but on Android you can supposedly reply as well!

So... has anyone else experienced the following:

When using Carplay and running Waze and Spotify... when Waze lowers the volume of the Spotify music to speak the next directions, and then when the music comes back to full volume, the music sounds terrible... with crackles, noise, distortion, etc. Now if I unplug the phone, plug it back in and do it all over again, it's fine... until it randomly produces the same problem. It remains persistently crappy sound until you disconnect the phone and reconnect the phone.

I’ve experienced something similar. If I’m listening to a podcast or music via CarPlay and then I change the driving mode, I usually get the crackles and distortion. To fix it, I just switch to Radio and then back to CarPlay and it’s fine. Annoying, but easy fix.

That's a Waze and Spotify integration. It was a few updates ago for both those apps. You may be able to unlink them in either of those app settings.

I'll try that next time. I wonder if Genesis/Apple/Waze/Spotify is aware of this.... which I assume also happens with Hyundais and Kias with the same system?

I'm hoping that it will be fixed in the next Nav update. I'm still a .rev behind since the latest update came out a few days after I purchased my car. Of course, the mapnsoft website still doesn't have my VIN number.

Happens to me too.
