  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hood Vibration

Great to know that. I will be taking mine apart to inspect it. Will post pictures.

Damn, I would take it to a body shop and ask what type of glue to use as well as how to repair it.

It would be a very good idea to get an idea from a body shop. It seems that 3M 5200 marine adhesive is a great glue. It is strong, permanent and also flexible witch is perfect for that spot.

Can the glue withstand repeated hot/cold cycles from the engine?

I removed the cover to inspect mine and almost all of them were lose:
20603
20604
20605
2060620607

And after:
20608

I am letting it seat and cure for now. I will report back tomorrow and let you know if see an improvement.

Good question as it would get a lot of cycles over time. Service temperature is -40 to 190.

Thanks! So I drove to work today and did avg speed of ~78mph and no vibration at all. I also did around 95mph for couple seconds and still no vibration yay! Feels solid after the fix. I have used the following adhesive:

3m black super weatherstrip adhesive (bought it at Autozone for $7)

I don't know what the long term result will be but I know that was the problem. @hamed57 thank you so much for guiding us the right direction! We all owe you a beer! ;)

i just turned in my 2016 3.8 ultimate on a 2019 g70, but man my hood use to vibrate like crazy. wish i knew this thread during my 3 year ownership period!

Haven't noticed any vibration....but now I have to go look at my hood.

Day 2 - Update:

I was able to do 100mph on the hwy today with no cars in front of me so I was getting more air resistance which usually made the vibration worse and I haven't experience any vibration. I can confirm that the solution works! Now it is all about finding the right adhesive that will work for years...

I am going to glue mine today and let it cure over the weekend. I did more inspection and realized that this could be a design flaw and other 2015 and 2016 models could have the same problem. The metal sheet seems to be a little bit warped and makes a small gap. The glue that Hyundai used was not strong enough to bond them together.

You are right. Now I am wondering if the vibration coming from the hood was strong enough to cause the cupping or feathering on my tires. Would be nice if it did so at least I know it is fixed now. My tires are cupping and feathering but my alignment is good and suspension seems to be just fine (57k miles on the car).

I am curious if the hoods are actually glued at those points or just sealed with a rubber compound to prevent vibration of the panels at key points that make contact.

I will just use some black silicon gasket maker if I notice that some of my sealed areas are cracked or gone.

Did you hear a noise from your hood?

I look further into it. I think you might be right. The rubber material is just there to make a cushion for the upper metal sheet and prevent vibration. I used some Ultra Black RTV Gasket Maker to fill the gap.
It was vibration free this morning driving to work. It feels very nice and solid.

After 2 months, is it still vibration free?
