  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

After driving my cadillac SRX for 5 years with doors that locked automatically when you left the vehicle, I am missing that on my new 2019 G70. Does anyone know if that feature is available on my new car?

They automatically lock when you push the lock button on your key fob.

(y)
If you automatically push the button, then they automatically lock
If you manually push the button, then they manually lock
;)

press the button on the drivers outside door handle when you exit the car, it will lock the doors. no need to dig the fob out of your pocket.

I wish the Genesis had passive locking/arming.. last car I had with that was my Camaro. even my Lexus didn't have it.. disappointing

So what happened if you accidentally left your keys in the car? Did it warn you your car won’t be locked?

If it was an option, I'd turn it off. To me it would be a PITA. I never carry the key fob unless I'mg going to drive but at times I want access to the car while it sits in the garage. I don't want it locked.

+1, I have this feature on my wife's Mazda CX9, I activated it a few weeks ago and after 2 days she almost yelled at me to turn that off since she constantly goes back to pick up stuff in her car while in the garage and always came to a locked car. I also found it annoying since, at least on the Mazda, it was not locking the doors automatically if I was going to pick up stuff in the trunk after exiting the car... I can understand the appeal if you got used to it but in my case, after having tried it for a few days, I found it more annoying than useful.

My Camaro would lock after the last door or trunk was closed, as long as I popped the trunk before closing the drivers door I never had an issue.

I can understand the frustration with the garage thing, my garage is a workshop only time a car is parked in there is when it is been worked on, otherwise they are in the carport in the driveway so I always have them locked even if I am walking away from them for 2 minutes to go into the house. One of the reasons I like keyless/touch systems as long as the key is in my pocket locked or unlocked is irrelevant.

I hope I"m replying to Ed about the Genesis locking itself. I have just purchased a GV80 and pop a lock is here for the 2nd time in a week. The car locks itself constantly. Did you figure out a way to deal with this? So far I have; sell the car or carry a hammer to break the window. Any thoughts?

Not really sure what is going on with your GV80. Mine does not have any feature to lock when I walk away. I have to use the handle or key fob to lock the door. If the key fob is in the car, it will not lock and sounds a warning to let me know the key is still in the car. In that case, I can only lock the car with the key fob. What I mean is if my wife has her key fob in her purse and leaves the purse in the car when we get out, if I press the indent on the door handle to lock the car, the car will sound a warning that the key fob is in the car and will not lock the car. I then have to get my key fob out of my pocket and lock the doors with my key fob.

So, the only way I can lock a key fob inside my car is if I have the other key fob to do it. I saw that you currently only have one key fob, so you need to find out why the car is locking itself.

My Tesla had that feature (and my SF has it too, but only with Android phones), but you had to activate it. Genesis models with the keycard option can also use the phone as a key. Do you have that activated? If yes, then check the settings, and disable 'locking when walking away'. Or simply turn off any phone paired to the vehicle, and see if it happens. That'd tell you where the problem is :). Good luck.

Right. Just demo the problem to the dealer. This should never happen in a correctly functioning system. There is no walk away and lock feature For Genesis

Likely there is an aftermarket alarm unit installed in the vehicle. They don't lock themselves. There is a little fuse box cover near your left knee when sitting in the driver seat. Pop that open and see if there is some wiring or a module that looks out of place. Or maybe something that looks like the attached picture. If you do, call your dealership and ask them to get rid of it. They play well with many cars, but not with Genesis.

I had an Infiniti that did this but after several years. Battery shop said replace fob battery because when battery is low it sends unreliable signals through the fob electronics. He had seen it before. Granted that this was on an older car than yours.
