G70, Genesis Sales Increase by Double Digits in 2019

• Year-over-year sales have increased in each month of 2019, galvanized by the all-new G70 luxury sport sedan
• Separate Genesis retail network now comprises over 300 retailers

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., July 2, 2019 – Genesis Motor America today reported sales of 10,007 for the first two quarters of 2019, a 38 percent increase compared with the prior year. For the month of June, Genesis counted 1,887 vehicles sold.

This positive sales momentum is reflective of the great progress we’ve begun to make with our new Genesis Retail Network and appreciation for our portfolio of award-winning vehicles. After initial availability constraints across the growing network of new Genesis retailers in Q4 2018 that resulted in 408 G70 retails, Q1 2019 sales increased 447 percent to 2,231 units and increased another 56 percent in Q2 2019 to 3,484 units. Good news. The G70 is sure a large chunk of the sales. On average, that is only 6 cars per dealer last month. I wonder how many sales it takes for the luxury experience for a stand alone dealer even in a modest cost area. The SUVs will be a big help.

SUVs will put Genesis on the map. I believe the G70 is a great vehicle, and the sales numbers are showing this, but the North American market is currently all about SUVs. Either way it's exciting to see more and more Genesis on the roads.

Bad news - G70 sales are down from May (even taking into account a shorter sales month) and the Stinger, once again, outsold its cousin.

Have greater concern about the longer-term sales prospects of the G70 (relative to its segment) than for the G80 and G90 (both of which should rebound a good bit w/ an all-new replacement and a fairly extensive facelift).

Maybe it's the deals (or lack thereof) and/or the lease rates for June that affected sales, but can't help to think that the tight rear quarters have had an impact as well.

Or maybe it's the lack of advertising (national TV commercials).

Have they been running national commercials (wouldn't know since don't really watch over the air TV)?
