  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What i am experiencing with my USB connection is very strange, let me explain: Last week i have installed new software updated from GPS map Canada website which also includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. My USB Cable was working just fine, but after the update when i am using apple car play in my car for a map or music, it disconnects automatically and then i had to disconnect the cable and put it back in and it shows up again. It is very annoying. I tried 4 different cable still same thing is happening.

From this i thought it might be the USB Slot not the cable, what i observed is, even after Apple CarPlay disconnects my phone keep 'charging', if there was anything wrong with USB port, i believe charging would stop too. And, i also tried USB stick with music on it on my car and it runs totally fine without any disconnection while playing music.

If anyone is experience same issue or know what is going on here that would be a great help.
Thanks,
Dhaval

Yeah thats what I meant. I think there may be one other obscure setting. If I can remember I will post back.....I don’t understand why they even place settings like these. I feel it defeats the purpose. I mean isnt the whole idea to get carplay or AA going, lock your phone, throw it in a cubby and shut the lid

Just searched found this hopefully it helps

i found another possibility. In the new iOS update, apple created an option to not allow USB access if the phone hasnt been unlocked in the last hour. I toggled this off and Im hoping this fixes my issue

Let me try that and see if that works cause my setting was 'Off'

This is a shot of the actual setting on my phone

Since i tried this option, disconnection problem has become very seldom. It just has happened once so far, what i am thinking is this could be a software issue from Hyundai which is making Apple CarPlay to crash somehow, could be because hardware is outdated to support car play or something else.

I do not think USB slot is a problem cause it keeps the phone charging still.

I got the same issue and I've uninstall/reinstall the app on my phone, change usb cables, even went and limited the background processes to 1 and still crashing. Only thing I haven't done yet was do a system reset on the head unit itself and just reload the app

Does resetting solved the issue?

Haven't had the time to do it just yet, hopefully I can do it today
I have the new software installed so that might have done the resetting it self i guess. And this issue still persist.... So let's see once you do if that seems to work or no.

did a reset and change background processes to a limit of 4 in developer options, was ok I opened Waze on my headunit and had music playing from my phone

Now, here's my question to everyone, what apps do you have running when Android auto crashes? I'm doing some testing of my own and I'm wondering if there's an issue with notification permissions, at current I didn't give notification permissions to Android auto, so we'll see how that goes when leave work

Based on my testing, the crash seems to be with the loss of GPS signal, there are times that android auto stays up and running for 2 hours while on the road, go through a dead spot and crash... I wish my LG bootloader was unlocked so I can look into the logs better, since Google claims that they fixed the issue, but all they did was put a new error message

I just bought a new G70 and have had constant issues with Android Auto, disconnects and such. It is to the point now that my phone will charge but there is no USB connection to any device I plug in. I connected my phone to my wife's G70 and android auto came up just fine. She hasn't complained about any issues using Apple Car Play in her car.

I'm in Canada. Can you clarify how you obtained this update? I've never updated my navigation in 2015 Genesis sedan.
