  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am loving my Genesis... the dealer said he owed me a key due to the fact one was missing.... I went ahead and bought a black uncut key and used smart fob off eBay. We have a place her that says they can program all push to start cars and laser cut the key blank. Can you program a used smart fob to the 2016 Genesis and can you pair more than 2 fobs? If not I’ll keep the spare in the safe

I've had 3 Genesis cars and to my knowledge the system will only allow 2 key FOBs.

I have 2 fobs and my smart card key and all 3 work. I don't know if the smart card registers differently than a normal fob though but I don't see why it would.

According to the dealer that programmed my Smart Card and he showed me the programming screen at the time: the system allows 2 fobs and one Smart Card for a max of 3.

you can't have 3 fobs, nor 1 fob and 2 smart cards, has to be 2 full fobs and the optional Smart Card.

if you have 2 already programmed and lost one, then the dealer has to erase all the keys and reprogram them from scratch, no issue other than time takes much longer to wipe and reprogram than to just add a key.

either way most dealerships charge 1 hour of labor to do this, even though adding a key takes 5 minutes and wiping and reprogramming takes about 30.

Like I said....
You can only have 2 "FOBS".
.

I would like to update the car can only do 2 fobs and 1 key card and you can’t program used fobs from another car. They have to be “virgin” there is a guy that can currently “virgin” Kia and Hyundai fobs and is working on a way to “virgin” the Genesis one soon. So now I have a used fob with laser cut key and will get the new fob next Saturday. The more you know lol
