  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My local dealer has a nice looking G80 but not quite the color I was wanting. Another dealer several states away has one, is that something a dealer could usually handle acquiring or would I need to go out there?

Why not ask your local dealer. If it is something he is able to do but the question is if he is motivated to do so. Have you talked price and Is it a done deal? If he doesn’t make it happen in a reasonable time the drop it and go out there.

Haven't gotten to price yet. Unfortunately my local dealer seems to still be much more Hyundai than Genesis and aren't great at answering questions . Next closest is substantially further away

Unless about purchase price and procedure. Don’t count on that local dealer. Get you questions answered here. The answers will be more honest and more accurate. When you are ready to deal, go to the dealer local or remote.

From my understanding, a dealer can do a swap across state lines with relative ease, but it will theoretically cost you $800-1000. That said, I'm a big advocate that anything and everything is negotiable when buying a car. Especially if you do your research

I never saw much wiggle room in the Genesis prices that I've seen so far. Most other car brands have multiple discounts listed for this and that. Almost all Genesis sites are like "here's the MSRP". I figured if I'd have to pay that I might as well get exactly what I want

dealers can cross state swap, however be aware that they will usually mark the price up because it isn't something in their inventory and if the other dealer won't take an even swap then they have to purchase the vehicle from said dealer. The they add the transportation cost.

my g80 was an in state dealer swap. it was kind of sad and funny.. I went to Puente Hills Hyundai, they would not budge on price, ended up at Commerce Hyundai and they gave me the price I wanted but only had a Black g80 sport with the grey interior and I wanted white with the black interior.

They ended up doing a dealer trade with Puente Hills for the exact car I was negotiating and walked out on, and I got the deal I wanted from Commerce Hyundai on the car I wanted from Puente Hills Hyundai.

I could live with white or gray, but the only 3.3t awd my dealer has is red. I definitely don't need any higher chance of speeding tickets!!

Most dealer websites will only show MSRP but you should be able to get a decent discount. If you contact @r_spec you can get a Circle A pricing certificate that should get you over 3% under invoice plus then any applicable incentives. Good luck and let us know how things turn out.

Thanks I very much appreciate it! I couldn't imagine having a car with: a backup camera, 360 camera, traction control, blind spot monitoring, a panoramic sunroof, auto high beams, parking hold, adaptive cruise control, more than 200 hp...

Maybe I have been living in the past lol

I've read some on the circle pricing. Looks like if r_spec is willing, you ask for a code tied to a particular VIN? Then if you change your mind later you can change the VIN?

Is it only good for a certain dealer or time or can you only change VIN a certain amount of times?

Once you have the PIN you should be able to generate a certificate for any vehicle and it seems most times the dealer just uses the PIN anyway.

...at any other dealership. Did that with my certificate's PIN several times, for cars at several dealerships, until I settled on one. You'll just receive a new certificate for the new choice of car's VIN, with the original PIN.

That would be amazing if @r_spec would be willing to hook me up. I found a white G80 not too far away. Gray would be my top choice but white is pretty nice!

This reminds me of my ‘19 Santa Fe purchase. I was working with 5 different dealers, including one out-of-state. I remember speaking to one dealer on my mobile phone. He told me he had located the exact car I wanted HOWEVER it was at another dealer and out on a test drive. I replied that I was IN THAT CAR doing the test drive.

Basically, you have to shop with everybody and work your best deal. Sometimes you have to compromise on colors and features. Don’t be afraid to buy a car out of state. There is no perfect way to snag the best deal. Sometimes you will not get the best deal, but you will be overjoyed that you bought the exact vehicle that you wanted.

My wife and I are in South Texas and just bought a 2019 Genesis G80 Sport AWD from a dealer in Indiana. The reasons that we did this are:

1. Our local dealer could not find us an AWD Sport in Havana Red in Texas. They told me that they couldn’t go outside of the state for dealer trades and that Genesis does not send AWD units to southern states.

2. I did a nationwide search on Edmunds and the closest one (of about a dozen in the country) to us was in Indiana. When I called about it I got the “we don’t discount those cars” response...ugh!

I found out about r_spec and the Circle A Certificate here on genesisowners.com. Asked him for a certificate and received it by email the same afternoon.

I called the dealer in Indiana back and mentioned the Circle A Certificate. He immediately said that they would sell at that price. We also got the $1,500.00 conquest rebate (because we were replacing a totaled 2016 Genesis) and the 1.9% financing.

MSRP of our new car is $58,825.00
Circle A got it down to $53,682.10
Conquest got it down to $52,182.10
Plus TT&L and shipping.

Dealer invoice is $55,667.00

No arguing...no problems. We did have to wait about a week and a half before the truck arrived, but it was well worth the wait!
