  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi Everybody! After about a year of trying to figure out what I wanted, I bought a 2015 Genesis 5.0 yesterday. I love it. The smooth, effortless power delivery, the vault-like cabin, the driving nannies. All very impressed so far. I hope to be back to pick up on the years of wisdom from Y'all.

Good for you. Take some time to learn all the goodies. I love the "auto hold" feature. The SCC makes driving more pleasurable too, The first mile or two in traffic you may wonder how well it is going to work, but it does,

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Thanks. So far it feels like a really great car. I was looking at Cadillacs, a Lexus GS 350, and an Infiniti Q50, but I test drove it and "the feel of the wheel sealed the deal." Looking forward to being on this forum.

I use Auto Hold every time I get in the car!

I was looking at those 3 as well... here's what disqualified them for me

Caddy CTS - Couldn't get past the the mess that is CUE and the panel gaps were horrible.
Lexus GS 350 - Couldn't get past the front end looking like The Predator and/or a stoned catfish.
Infiniti Q50 - I just came out of a G35s sedan. Other than a nicer interior, it didn't feel like much of an upgrade.

Couldn't be happier w/ the Genesis 5.0 - it operates with a slickness of cars costing half again as much.

I like the way the GS350 looks (F Sport), but I don't have a local Lexus dealer. I have a rule about only buying cars that have a local dealership if work is needed.

The Q50 was quick but the interior was small and louder than expected, plus the engine sounded like it was trying too hard. And no local Infiniti dealer anyway.

So if I wanted a quick upper scale sedan, the 5.0 fit the bill on much more than one level (and I have a Hyundai dealer 10 minutes away).

Congrats on your purchase, OP. They're nice and very enjoyable to drive.

I am Just curious as to reliability. I tried to do my homework before buying, and the general impression I got is that the Genesis is generally considered reliable. But I got nervous at the dealerahip and bought an extended warranty. I have a lot of experience with German cars, so you can appreciate my concern.
And by the way, I recently spent 10 days with a new A4 and my 2015 Genesis loses nothing on the A4.

Welcome to the club, Markymark! I just came out of an Audi A4 Cab a few months back and, like you, had a few concerns but the Hyundai Warranties are considered industry best. And the word, so to speak, is that the Gennies are pretty damn reliable. As I was told, rarely is there any kind of motor problems with these, yet you do want all the electronic toys covered just in case. I'm still learning here, but I think you made a wise choice.

My wife's first '15 5.0 had 92K miles on it when someone hit her and totaled it. Never an issue with it at all. Her current '15 5.0 (yes, she got another one) has about 50K miles on it and it's got an a/c issue where it stops blowing cold air intermittently (and so does my '15 5.0). Hers also has a problem that others have posted about as well with the sunroof not wanting to close. It's very sluggish and our dealer doesn't treat it as a warranty issue. Other than that there's not too much to tell.

Congrats on your purchase!

Thanks! I am totally in love with it. It feels real tight, strong, etc. the mileage is not great, but then I came from a crown vic police, so it’s not like it’s worse.

Lots of info to read on this forum. I missed a few about electronics and the sunroof before buying and then ran out and got an ext. warranty for peace of mind. I don't have the 5.0, couldn't find a used one with a color I liked with the ultimate pkg. They are rare. My 3.8 is just fine though.
