  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi,

I am trying to figure out what would happen if I pressed the "update" button on my touchscreen on my 2015 Genesis 5.0. From what I understand, one needs to have an SD card with the latest update to do this. Is this correct? Does the dealer do this, and if yes, how much do they charge?

Also, exactly what gets updated? is it just the maps for the navigation, or is it other software updates as well? The Myhyundai website says that Carplay is available for my car. It would be nice to have that.

The other reason I ask is my backup camera does not work. It just shows a blue screen. I am hopeful that either a software update or a system reset would fix the problem. The wiring at the trunk appears to be OK (although someone had fooled around with it some.) Has anyone had any success with doing this to get the backup camera to work?
Thanks!

Yes, there should be an SD card in place for navigation and a new one is needed for updates. It is accessed under the cover plate on front of the radio.

What model do you have? The Ultimate with jog dial and larger screen cannot not get Car Play or Android Auto. If you have the 8" screen on the base or Tech then it is a part of the software update.

You can do the update yourself. Register your car at www.mapnsoft.com and you will find the cost and what version is available. No reason to pay a dealer to do it. Takes about a half hour.

As for the blue screen, good chance it is the camera. It was in my case. You can tray a reset, but don't get too excited just yet.

Ah, no

Ok, thanks. Luckily I do not have the jog dial so I can get carplay. And that also solves the mystery of why I don’t have the jog dial.

I agree that my camera is likely defunct. But a fella can always hope. (I read somewhere that the blue screen was the application in the head unit not properly reading the signal.)
