  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Fuel Wire plug-n-play...~$65 USD delivered in the USA. This is for the 3.3T and includes both sides/harnesses. I am currently set for batch #2 which should go out next week. This guy went over and beyond...excellent work.

I keep coming back to this thread and you're all killing me. I told myself I wouldn't do any real mods until the car is ~5 years old and now all I can think about is how I'm going to get a JB4 in California.

For the record, please don't tell me how...for now...

Not yet. Still waiting!

Did a number of runs just now on map 2. 0-90ish mph. It certainly pulls even harder than map 1, but, I worry about the ECU pulling a little bit of timing roughly right below 3750 rpm, despite it being relatively cold outside (66ºF at night). Comparing my logs to Map 1 at the same RPM's, it doesn't look like it's pulling timing in that same area. All RPM's above that are great, though - no timing pulled. Interesting thing is, after a few runs, the ECU seemed to learn a bit and not pull timing in that area anymore.

Take a look... First few runs, essentially back to back. Circled is the area where timing was pulled - you could feel it drop a little bit of power at that RPM for a split second.

By the 4th run, the timing began staying more consistent. No more perceptible drop in power.

Now take a look, this is about the 5th run, no more dip in timing in this area; however, it looks like it's starting out with less advanced timing to begin with after flooring it. Looks like the ECU has learned to trim it back a little beforehand so it doesn't feel like it's losing power in that spot. That's amazing...

Lastly, here is map 1 when it was really hot outside.

Now that I'm looking at all of them at once, it actually looks like the timing is very similar between Map 1 and Map 2 when comparing my last couple runs of Map 2 to Map 1.

I wonder if the JB4 is causing the ECU to think the boost is substantially lower at that RPM point, so the ECU thinks the timing should be more advanced. However, since boost, at that given RPM, is actually higher than what the ECU perceives, knock potential rises. When switching from Map 1 to Map 2, the ECU thinks the boost is even lower, so timing is more advanced, when in reality boost is actually even higher, so it has to dial back the timing... I suppose it takes a few pulls to compensate for this.

Either way, I will have to log some pulls during the day time when it's hot outside and see if anything changes. Until then, it looks like Map 2 is working well on my car with 92 octane pump fuel; but so far it's only verified when cold outside.

On a side note: Despite being 66ºF outside, looks like my AIT's ranged from 91ºF all the way up to 118º (after doing a few back to back pulls). That said, I think there is some room for a bigger/better intercooler, and possibly even some heat reflective tape on some of the intake piping.

Damn. This car is getting fast already. Excited for more.

Looks good! The ECU would pull or add timing with or without JB4. For example, if you were stock and put in 87 octane it would likely pull timing after seeing some low level (normal) knock. Same if you were using 91 but were in super hot conditions. Based on your write-up, I'm sure you already know this but for others, this looks to be typical behavior. How does Map 2 feel compared to stock? Do you have the fuel control wires?

Interesting stuff and keep posting!

Yup, fuel wires installed (using eBay extensions, see my previous posts).

Map 2 feels strong, very strong. Haha. It's starting to feel fierce!

^ when you switch maps...or even fuel type (including additives)...you have to let the ECU learn by driving around gently for about 30 minutes. Very important.

Good to know, and makes perfect sense according to my logs!

That's cause it is 10psi boost overall. 5psi X2 for for each turbo. Hence the almost 500wtq.

Oh man! how did I miss that thread there? thanks for the heads up, I'll ask if he can put me on his list.

LOL! I said the same thing... it I succumbed.

Send me a PM if you want/need to know how to get a JB4 in California.

I was planing to get a piggyback when I decided to get The G70. I was thinking RaceChip but learned the JB4 is far superior.

So the eBay guy @Toddasaurus and I bought from is the one supplying Ecko with the harness!

Installed the JB4 today with Map2. I feel the difference but I'm not impressed. Definitely more power above 2500 RPM. I have not installed the fuel wire yet.

Map 2 needs 93 octane and fuel wires. 91 might work if really good quality fuel...but don’t cheap out if you want to take full advantage of each Map.

I run 99 in Map 3.

I'm running 93 on Map 2. I will install the fuel wire and report back.

Very important...drive around gently for ~30 minutes to let the ECU learn it’s new environment.

Once you have the fuel wires and do that...you’ll freak the f$%k out :)

I assume you have the 3.3T.

Not sure how much power your clutch can handle and how the gearing is.
Use Map6 and do 4psi across the board first and drive around and do a couple of WOTs.
Then increase the PSI in selected rpm ranges until you don't see gains anymore and back down for those rpm.
Once your ECU adapts, you will get cleaner power ramp up.
Give 3k rpm about 6psi and taper down.

No I have the 2.0T manual. That's probably why ahahah!

Ahhh... I was going to say, “not impressed with map 2?!?” First time I put my foot down on Map 2, my head hit the headrest hard! But I have the 3.3T.

Agree with the posts above... fuel wire and let your ECU adapt. Let us know how it goes!

Btw you have to change your Boost Safety to about 24psi. Otherwise you won't hit more than 21psi and it will knock you back down to Map 0.
You're probably not getting the full effect of Map2 since stock Max Boost is 18.6psi.
