  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is AC supposed to blow air at different temperatures?

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out if I need visit dealership or not. Issue is that my AC is in SYNC mode and set to 75 for both driver and passenger. It blows cold air when starts on both sides but once temperature is reached it slows down and blows significantly warmer air on driver side compared to passenger. I'm not sure if it's expected or not since I'm not sure how temperature control works, is there a sensor on drive side which might be measuring different temperature then passenger?

Sounds like the blend door is malfunctioning. Defiantly not normal, I leave mine on sync and 74 all the time and both sides blow the same temps.

Blend doors are out of order or it's slightly undercharged.

Hopefully it was warranty - I'm not going to be so lucky, I'm afraid. How much $?

i paid nothing. covered under warranty.

I'm not. I have a savings account set aside for just an occasion though. Didn't think I'd be dipping into it after just 4 months of ownership....

My new G70 does the same. My Alfa Giulia did too.

For me its a subtle but noticeable difference - I've never measured it directly.

How severe is yours?

Per explanation from dealership it's expected since all air comes from passenger side and goes through passenger side first and whatever is left goes to driver so air coming from passenger side will always be slightly more colder then driver if both set to 100%

Yeah... The Condenser is on the passenger side but the effect shouldn't be that noticeable if the refrigerant is at full charge.

Condenser is under the hood. Evaporator is under the dash. I always used the center vent when checking temperature but there should be no more than a few degrees difference on the sides.

Is there an easy way to check if refrigerant is on full charge or not?

Only accurate way is to put a set of gauges on it.

One thing you can do is get a thermometer with a probe and check the leaving air at the vent. You can check the temperature drop from ambient. It can vary but at 80 degrees and 50% humidity is should be about 40 to 42 degrees. If much higher you need to get it checked properly.

Be careful if you have no experience with gauges so you don't cause problems, the pressures are high.

I'd swing by a Pep Boys and have it checked. A comprehensive evaluation costs $35.
