  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everybody,

I’m sure these questions have been asked tons of times but I can’t seem to find them so I apologize.

I commute 80 miles a day and I’m looking for a comfortable highway cruiser. My main wants are comfort, ventilated seats, CarPlay, and lane keep assist that’s compatible with open pilot. It seems that the 2015 genesis checks all of these off handsomely.

Now as you know, it appears that CarPlay is not compatible with the ultimate package. Which do you think is a bigger loss: no CarPlay support or losing features from the ultimate package?

I have a 2015 5.0 with the 8” screen and I got the entertainment system upgrade with carplay. It costs $145. You will not have wireless carplay - you have to plug your phone in every time. So for me, that kind of takes away from it.

So would you give all of that up for the ultimate features? All you get is a bigger screen, more speakers, and a power closing trunk?

Peesonally, I don’t think I need the heated steering wheel, the power trunk, etc. the 5.0 I have has all I need.

I chose CarPlay for my 5.0. Unfortunately, when my phone is plugged in, the people on the other end hear themselves echoed back. Bluetooth works fine for the phone, though.

I have both trims, I love the few extra toys on the Mrs Ultimate, but I can tell you these days, I would die without having Waze up on the main screen, during rush hour in ATL on my 40 miles daily round trip. Just my two cents...

So what would you recommend for me

Oh man. I use Waze exclusively while driving so I know exactly where the police are, in case I need them urgently during my commute.

The ultimate also has the adaptive suspension. From what I've read, it doesn't offer that much more, but costs a lot to repair.

If my memory serves, the adaptive suspension was only available on the 2015 5.0 Ultimate and was removed for later models

I think you are correct. The OP specified a 2015.

How many miles on the 2015? If you put 20k a year commuting you cannot afford a long term loan on a high mile car so think it out carefully. If you want ventilated seats you need the Ultimate and won't have Car Play.

Not that it’s any of your business but I am buying this car in cash as a beater/commuter because I don’t want to be judged by my patients or my colleagues. I’m not sure why you went off on this tangent.

You are the same person that spammed and ruined another forum member’s thread about openpilot (that’s how I found this forum). YES your Genesis can SELF DRIVE!!!

The non ultimate versions for sure have ventilated seats.

Good riddance.

My 2015 5.0 is not ultimate trim & has the ventilated seats.

I still think my logic was correct. CarPlay means you’ll get new features for your car. I just had a bad situation. I could probably yell and scream at the dealer, because I raised the problem while it was still under warranty, but it seems like a futile gesture.

Correct, the 2015 5.0 ultimate model is a hybrid of the newer G80 sport 3.3T(active sport suspension) and the G80 5.0 Ulimate(V8 power, luxury interior with real wood trim.). The best of both worlds.:)

The non-ultimate 5.0 models has cooled seats. The Ultimate 5.0 models add active suspension, premium 17 speakers system, HUD, and power trunk.
