  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

*sigh* didn’t even make it to the next service interval, pano roof noises have returned.

4 months ago I had the entire pano roof replaced because the glass on the pano had separated from the track and apparently it is a non-serviceable part. So warranty choose to replace the entire assembly.

Up until 3 days ago the roof worked perfect and was silent, then all of a sudden this popping and creaking noise appeared and it is unbearable while driving, even my kid complained about it and we had the radio up loud (on 35) today.

It appears the rear glass, not the actual sunroof part, has separated from the track and while driving it is vibrating and flexing, and the whole assembly lifts from airflow if the roof is open.

Ugh, well have to call Monday and take it back in. Very frustrating. My driver seat is also making a groaning sound and has a bit of movement upon accelerate, which was already addressed once and has also reapppeared.

Only 14 months only and 13,500 miles. Very sad IMO to have these types of issues.

Dropped the car off this morning. Dealer call this afternoon, the adhesive they used to secure the rear glass of the pano roof detached from the framing and the rear pano glass was separating from the frame, enough so that driving it for the past 2 weeks in this manner caused the glass to have micro fractures and it will have to be replaced again.

The bottom line is that the glass was not properly installed and the adhesive used not properly cured, or the surface was not properly prepared when the glass was replaced a few months ago, the excess heat over the past few weeks (100 plus here) caused it to separate from the metal framing.

The SM told me they would be having a auto glass company come in to repair it this time and not have their techs do it, since an auto-glass service would know how to properly prepare and install the glass.

We shall see...

What about the seat?

so far "unable to replicate" is their response, they are blaming my size as the reason for the groaning noises in the seat.

Can you take a ride with them to demonstrate it? I haven't heard of that excuse before!

Based on the stories I've seen on this forum, I would ask the service manager to sit in it and move the seat around to verify the "unable to replicate"

Mr I is a knowledgeable owner - am sure he will hold their feet to the fire :)

oh I have already made arrangements to go test drive it with the SA or tech in the car.

problem is it's a Holiday weekend, so I can't get to the dealer until Tuesday..

Well they called last night that the car is ready, but the SA asked if I could pick it up Friday as he was off today and he wants to be present at pick up so we can test drive it together so we can be sure all the creaks, groans, rattles etc are gone and we can agree on it together.

Apparently the rear pano glass cannot be services separately, so once again they had to replace the entire pano frame sunroof, glass and all, as it is sold and serviced as a single unit.

They also replaced the headliner as they creased it removing it, they didn’t want to remove the rear windows again like they did the first time and create more issues, so it was more cost effective for them to just get me a new headliner which they dropped in from the top before putting in the new sunroof and worked through the hole as not to crease it, apparently they didn’t consider this when removing it. But whatever.

The creak in my seat was a bent bolster frame, something about the metal flange rubbing against rubber ballon that inflates for the bolster when pumped up, Likely a result of the way I have to enter and exit the car due to my disability. They realigned the parts and bent them back but warned it will likely happen again and next time it is on my dime not warranty as it falls under the neglect and abuse clause of the warranty, the dealer said it was denied by warranty on this claim but they were covering it as a courtesy to me. I can’t argue that as it is something created by me and my disability.

Overall the service department (this is a Hyundai only dealership) went above and beyond IMO to address my issues. I know that a lot of people have expressed issues with Hyundai servicing their Genesis, but this dealership had exceeded my expectations each time.

Of course as I have stated I couldn’t care less about the “luxury” experience, as long as I `get a loaner and the issues get resolved without arguments or static about warranty coverage IMO that meets my expectations for a dealership experience.

Having had many bad experiences, arguments, fights, etc about warranty claims with Lexus, Chevy, Chrysler, Ford, BMW, MBZ, so far Genesis/Hyundai has been a pleasure to work with, on the same level as Toyota is with my wife’s car, only Toyota doesn’t give loaners, but they will shuttle us to Enterprise.
