Used warranty 2015 genesis ultimate 5.0

Looking to buy a used 2015 genesis 5.0 ultimate from a Honda dealer so naturally it’s not certified preowned and they don’t offer the extended wrap that Hyundai can offer. So my question is, can i go to a Hyundai dealer to extend the warranty while still in warranty period? Car is not certified preowned so I’m not sure what to do. Looking to pick car up Friday so if anyone could help me or point me in the right direction that would be fantastic. Thanks in advance.

Hi Joe, yes you can go to your local Hyundai dealership and they should be able to run your VIN and quote you for the HPP Wrap. They have multiple options all the way up to 10/120 with zero deductible.

It does not have to be CPO, but they can also certify the vehicle at a cost of approx. $1000 should you want that. Certifying gives you the added 10/100 Powertrain, but ultimately that is not necessary to get the Wrap and only you can decide if the extra 5-year powertrain coverage is worth the $1k. If you plan on owning for a while then it may make sense.

I was confused about this and assumed the same as you, but the SA at my local dealership made it clear that my CPO certification added the 10/100 powertrain warranty through Hyundai as the manufacturer. The CPO Wrap Plan covers everything else bumper-to-bumper except for the powertrain portion that's covered by that warranty (which is separate). I'm still not 100% clear, but I have both so hasn't been a concern.

The 10/100 CPO Powertrain Warranty that comes with certifying the vehicle has its own one-page coverage (Manufacturer):

Yes, I know for a fact you can. The question is whether it covers the Powertrain to the same extent that the CPO certification (for a fee) brings with it.

Prior to purchasing my '16, I contacted my local dealer and had them run the VIN for a quote (prior to the selling dealership certifying) and was given 6 numbers for Platinum Wrap with deductibles of 0-50-100 for each of the 10/100 and 10/120 plans. I did this for comparison and to have as much knowledge as possible when closing the deal. Since I negotiated the CPO into the deal, its a moot point for me.

Taking into account paying to make the vehicle a CPO changes the dynamic. Personally, I think the quote on the Wrap may logically change if it's been certified, making the cost less to add then had it not been. That's my guess assuming the same powertrain coverage applies to both.

Yea man. Been looking since my buddy got one in ultimate package as well. I’ll let u know what I hear about warranty. Im gonna try to call about it tomorrow

Call a different dealership or confirm with them that you get complete coverage (powertrain included) by purchasing the Wrap through them. It sounds to me like they simply don't want to deal with it.

I originally called multiple Hyundai/Genesis dealerships within a 100-mile radius. Talked to some Service Advisors who were helpful and said they'd have their finance guy get in touch, while others were not as cooperative. In the end, I did get two who called me back and gave me pricing and told me they could certify too. Just gotta be persistent.

Yes. I found some damage on fuel door so they removed and painted and gonna have shipped to a dealer near me to have installed. Best riding and feeling car I’ve ever owned and it’s a beast! I absolutely love it. Got new car wrap from dealer that covers me to 100k or 6 years bumper to bumper!

I will send pics when all finished. Only other problem is one of key fobs isn’t working so I’m talking with dealer about replacing it

Did you get that warranty from the Honda dealer, or through a Hyundai dealer? How much was it if you don’t mind me asking? And any deductible?
