Thanks!Well I see people saying first oil change at 1000 miles I just called Genesis literally an hour ago on my own car and they told me first service should be at 3750 miles
Years ago the first change was done at even less Regular changes were done at about 2500 miles. Today, 3750 is quite soon enough.Well I see people saying first oil change at 1000 miles I just called Genesis literally an hour ago on my own car and they told me first service should be at 3750 miles
What's with the frequency of the oil/filter changes on the G70 3.3T? I've had two turbos (MB C300 and ATS, both 2L) and the changes were scheduled for 1 year or ~10-12K miles.
My thoughts are that you cant change it to often. If you plan on keeping car do it every 4000. People tell me that I waste my money by changing my oil to often, I like to keep my engine clean inside. Cant go wrong. But did they have a 10 year powertrain warranty?
I got a service message at 3k miles, but when I looked at the maintenance schedule it seemed like it was 6000 unless you're on the "severe duty" cycle.
The severe duty cycle did mention if you make short trips of less than five miles, which I frequently do since I live only a couple of miles from work. Still, I had initially planned on just bringing it in at around 5-6000.
But did they have a 10 year powertrain warranty?

Having such a short commute to work is kind of hard on a vehicle, in that the engine never gets up to operating temp.Severe duty also includes driving up and down inclines, and dusty roads. Also stop and go traffic, and idling for extended periods of time.
Let's be honest, I think virtually everyone who daily drives their G70 qualifies for severe duty, according to the manual.

No, I don't think so. But always used full synthetic Mobil 1. I don't think Genesis uses full synthetic??? And, BTW, I've had a 2002 BMW 325 and a 2005 BMW Z4, both for 10-11 years, and approximately 50K miles on each. Changed the oil/filters myself only once a year. When I sold the cars, their engines (inline 6s) still purrrred...never had any engine problems related to oil. In fact, my neighbor has the Z4 (now 14 years old) and the engine is fine. But did they have a 10 year powertrain warranty?

BMW inline 6 . AWESOME enginesService Manger at Hyaundai of Sioux Falls told me that they use full synthetic on my oil changes.
Agree, except for the Olds that went out at 86,000 and the Buick trans went out at 75,000. Another Buick was in the junk yard at 104K. The second engine in the Old lasted an additional 95k and I had a junk yard tow it away for good.I also don't think the 10 year/ 100K mile powertrain warranty is such a big thing. Every car I have had made it to well over 100K miles with no engine problems, and I kept a few of them over 10 years too.
This--the way the manual defines "severe" I think it is difficult to drive a car and not fall within the severe category.Severe duty also includes driving up and down inclines, and dusty roads. Also stop and go traffic, and idling for extended periods of time.

OK, if they are using full synthetic, then I really don't understand the reason for such frequent oil changes. However, it could be that with the big 3.3T engine, these cars are going to be hard driven and may need earlier oil changes???Service Manger at Hyaundai of Sioux Falls told me that they use full synthetic on my oil changes.
Very well could be,I build Cummins ISX 15.0 liter engines. I never had to do one because owner changed oil to frequently.OK, if they are using full synthetic, then I really don't understand the reason for such frequent oil changes.
