  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So DW curbed the LF rim on our 2015 5.0. I saw this as a good chance to replace a rim & use the curbed one as a full size spare. Looking on Ebay, noticed they were listed as front or rear. I thought they were the same, but I guess not. Only difference I could see was an offset difference ( 40mm vs 48mm ) per the listings. So I'll for sure get one listed as "front". And to help with getting the new "full sized spare", to fit in the recess in the trunk I suppose I should go with the 245/40 vs the 275/35. My question would be, any issue should I go this way, and have a rear tire flat? Don't think so, but best to ask.

Thanks

You obviously have the Staggered setup with the wider rims on the rear. I'd be keeping a front spare in the trunk which will suffice should you have a rear flat, but make sure this would only be temporary while getting the rear repaired or replaced. The front on rear will be recessed more into the wheel well, but the diameters are the same so you will be fine.

Thanks, thought that would be the case, but sometimes what seems like a no brainer turns out to be dead wrong.

Does that mean you can't use the front on the rear?

This should be of help to you:
Hyundai Genesis 2015 - Wheel & Tire Sizes, PCD, Offset and Rims specs

Our Gennies came with either the standard 18in wheels (3.8) all the way around or the staggered 19in setup (standard on the 5.0) with the rears wider. Since the tire circumference is the same you shouldn't be hurting anything running a front in the rear, but aesthetically it will look off. The higher offset on the rear is due to the wider rim and aligns it properly with your wheel well and fender. Using the 245-19 as a spare is perfectly fine; if a rear goes flat it should be repaired and swapped back relatively soon regardless.

Personally, I like the staggered setup and will be upgrading my 18's to 20's after the first of the year.
