My 2015 genesis has been given me a low reading average 13.5 -16.8mpg in the city is this right? I like to drive with a little acceleration here n there, but dang that seemed awful low to me. I had some repairs due to it and if i remember correctly i would average 18-22 in the city and 23-26 hwy. also my total full tank capacity dropped after i got my car back too. Every time i fill up i get around 430 miles but before repairs i would get around 500. Post your averages and opinions. Thank you in advance!

Sounds about right. Did you really get an actual 500 miles? I've been driving 2 different versions of that car for 5 years and never came close to that. Good highway would get me close to 400 miles.

City driving mileage sucks, but you have a big heavy car to get moving and it takes a lot of energy. Short trips in winter were really dismal. A winter trip to the store 2 miles away would be 12 mpg round trip. The 23-26 highway sounds about right but no so much city. Only time I'd see 22 city was down hill on the instant read.

What repairs were done? Anything to directly affect fuel use?

My 2015 AWD shows MPG of 19-20 for my city driving which is 99.99% of what I drive.

What repairs were done, is the right question to ask. I dont do a lot of city driving myself ,but that does seem low. I just did a 950mile drive in one day. I averaged 29mpg over the entire drive. 2015 5.0 . I snapped this pic two mins after filling tank. 536 mile range.

I've averaged ~19.4 over 3 months with a 90/10 city/hw driving pattern, so those numbers do sound low.

This was the my range 2 mins after filling tank, the last pic was like 20 mins after filling. Either way your numbers seem low. I honestly cant believe the mpg that my 5.0 gives me .

I usually average about 16-18mpg in my 5.0 V8 just cruising around town(40-50 mph) including idling in drive-tru lines and at stoplights.

17-18 is about average for me in the Chicagoland area with mostly stop and go bumper to bumper expressway crawl. If I baby it I can get up to 20 ish but in the winter or if I get on it at all 16 or less is common.

Sounds about right for my 2015 5.0 in mixed driving. I usually hover in the 19-21 mpg range on my commute to work that is mostly city and some highway.

What engine do you have carguy? 5.0 correct? When I do my long drives my instant mpg stays around 28 to 34. I run non ethanol and dont encounter any kind of traffic! And traffic lights? What are them things?

I lived back east south jersey / center city philly area. I dont think I would have purchased this 2015 5.0 if I still lived there due to all the traffic and red lights. Can never get above 50mph.😣😖

Yes, the 5.0 V8. My work commutes are usually 28 miles each way with some traffic at night on my way to work and in the mornings on the way home. The highway drive is about 10 miles with rest being city. I only use Shell 93 v-power gas.

Note: I do have a heavy foot and like to agressively merge a lot so my mileage could actually be better with a lighter foot.:)

For the type of driving I do, I'm content with 19+ considering I do a lot of short distances, idling, and engine on/off; I live one mile from my office, so you get the idea. But you're killing it on your 5.0, and you must be driving with a tailwind too lol. ;)

Also, my number is based on manual calculation with miles driven/fill-up gal. I regularly get the car telling me I'm getting 20+ but that's deceiving based on the true mileage driven/fuel burned.

My foot lightened up over the past 10 years, and the excellent mpg that the 5.0 gives me is really nice. I think the whole car is nice . Spent 16hours behind the wheel, dark single lane roads . Mid west nothing around for miles roads. The car gives you a nice feeling , the saftey features along with the heads up display best vehicle ever!!! No to mention the comfy seats!!!@

Agreed, I don't drive nearly as hard as I used to, instead choosing to drive as if I'm showing her off to everyone; Damn, I'm getting old lol.
But there's nothing quite like hitting the open road when driving a car you love, not to mention all the creature comforts these cars give us.

If you have your foot in it, that may be right. I get around 19 mpg with 90city/10hwy. I'm very light on the pedal. Make sure to reset your trip or AVG MPG. Resetting the AVG MPG each fill up with give you a more accurate reading. If not, the AVG MPG is averaging in each mile since the last reset. Which would be more accurate? AVG of 5 miles or AVG of 500 miles? Common sense dictates.

I can get 500 miles out of a tank if I'm on the highway but I won't run the tank that low. I usually fuel up with 100 miles left to empty. I'll probably start filling up at half a tank with the colder weather coming. Poor fuel pump...

Check out my fuelly app. I've tracked all my fill-ups since purchasing in Jan 2018 - My Genesis (Hyundai Genesis) | Fuelly

yes then short trips are killer on the mpg.

I like that app!! Nice data! I also dont let my tank go down below a half , I dont believe that the fuel pump dont like to run with low fuel levels. Never thought that running it to the fuel light comes on would help things out in anyway. Anyhow I need that app ,good stuff man!!!

What’s the fastest you’ve gone in your car and how did it feel at those speeds?
I’ve been to 125 in my old crown vic and it was not very stable. I’ve had my 5.0 to 105 and it felt great.
