  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just purchased a new set of tpms for my 2015 Genesis Sedan 5.0 . I'm being told that I have to get the sensor program by the dealer. Is this so . The tire shop said that they can't do it without the dealer doing the first program. What are my options. The dealer needs the car for two hours @$100 per hour. I'm not feeling that.

So do they relearn themselves or do they have to be programmed. They are OEM sensors. But I brought them online.

It appears that many are stating they do relearn and you have to drive over 40mph, etc. No expert here, but I'd ask some questions to those who have gone through this in the thread I recommended.

I bought OEM sensors for my aftermarket wheels for my '15 5.0 then I traded it in for '18 g80 sport and they would relearn after 3-4 miles of driving. And between that, I swapped wheels 3 times, so the sensors has to be dismounted and put back in new wheels and they would still relearn every time.

Your dealer is full of s%$t trying to rip you off.

yes I thought so too.

err..

while I agree the sensors on the car reprogram automatically when they are rotated, I thought that new sensors had to have their ID numbers programmed into the car.

I know this is true with Toyota, once in they will automatically sort out their locations when rotated, initially the ID numbers have to be programmed to the car. We did it on the wife's Camry with the Carista App and a bluetooth ODBII dongle.

haven't had to deal with it on the G80 yet.

I purchased the TPMS linked below. They are OEM. No programming was required at all. Installed them and drove the car for a few mins and all the digits popped up on the screen. No issues.

My local tire shop told me that aftermarket TPMS sensors need cloning to match the frequency and all that of the stock sensors. That may be your case.

These are the same ones that I purchased. So when they get on the car I will go for a drive . Hopefully the car will wake up the sensor and learn it .

Just bought a set of factory rims and tires with tpms sensors from a 2018 G80 and installed them on my 2015 Genesis. First start on the set I was driving less than 15 mph for about a mile, the tires pressure low warning came on. I turned the car off at the gas station, got some gas and then started on my second trip. On start, the warning light disappeared, I started on my journey for a 7 mile highway run. After about 3 miles of driving about 60mph, the car displayed the tires psi. The relearn process was successful and after a few drives now the pressures come up pretty quick.

I have aftermarket sensors in aftermarket wheels and there were no issues. These are winter tires and the third time they have been swapped around with the factory wheels/sensors. As others have said just have the correct tire pressure and drive.

Swapped my summer tires for winter tires last week. Already have the winters mounted on OEM rims and balanced. Just simple remove summer wheels and put on winter wheels.

Everything was going good, too good. Knew something would hold me out. I get to the last wheel..... and only 4 OEM lug nuts are in the box. Damn. I'm missing one. Turned my garage, house, car upside down trying to find it. No luck. Went to Hyundai dealer and ordered an extra lug nut. They waived the shipping fee which was nice. Got the nut today.

As for the TPMS, worked like a charm.

Still don't know where that lug nut went.... beginning to think it spun off on the road or something.

Hey I have a 2015 5.0 and I’m contemplating buying a set of 2019 G80 wheels with tires that are clean take offs and only have about 200 miles on them. The factory TPMS sensors that were in the 2019 wheels are still there. Will my 2015 automatically learn the new sensors? Figured maybe u may know the answer haha. Please let me know. Thanks man!

The set I purchased was from a 2018/2019 G80 and I installed them with factory TPMS on my 2015 Genesis Sedan And worked perfect after the pressure was set and a few minutes of driving.

I’m contemplating putting g80 sport wheels on my 2015 5.0 can you post pictures?

I installed 2021 oem take off wheels from a 2021 Genesis G80 that had oem tpms sensors already installed. Do you think these sensors will work on my Genesis Sedan 5.0? Autolearn? Ive driven the car for a few miles now and the tire pressure is not showing yet. Just saying "Drive to Display". Anybody know if the new generation G80 TPMS sensors work on the previous generation Hyundai Genesis Sedan 5.0?
