  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello. I can't find specifics on this in the forums. I have a 2015 5.0 with what I believe is the 14 speaker Lexicon (not sure how to tell if I have the 17 speaker system.) I'm looking to upgrade individual speakers in the car to improve sound quality but only speakers. I can't seem to get sizing information for all the speakers in the car from online resources. I would like to replace the deck subwoofer and maybe the speakers in the doors. I think the door speakers are 6.5" and the deck sub is a 6.75"? Not sure. Guidance is appreciated.

I thought all 5.0 cars came with the Ultimate package. I know that's the case for the 2016's....I assume that was also true on the 2015's. Someone else would need to verify that. If that's true, then your car has the 17 speaker Lexicon system.

Do you have the jog dial on your console? I think that's an indicator of the 17 speaker system.

Not sure about individual speaker sizes. I do have some info on what speakers are located where, but it doesn't detail the speaker sizes.

There are threads here providing much info on adding (not replacing) a subwoofer to the existing system.

If you have the Lexicon system (odds are you do) then I doubt you will find anything better to replace speakers with). It would cost a pretty penny to even try so I'd just leave well enough alone vs. ripping apart door panels etc.

I totally agree with Alfer, leave well enough alone.

I actually found out the speaker size information from my favorite old website for car audio sonicelectronix.com. I had totally forgot about using them as a resource. Turns out the rear deck sub is an 8" model. Door speakers are 6.5" plus 1" tweeters. I don't have the jog wheel with my vehicle so I don't think I have the 17 speaker system. I believe that the 2015 5.0's came stock with the 14 speaker system and an upgrade with the tech package gave you the 17 speaker system. I think the package also included the HUD and the jog wheel as well as a few other treats that my vehicle doesn't have. I'll take everyone's advice though and Ignore the thought of updating speakers due to cost/time. Does anyone have any recommendations on settings within the system for best SQ?

I was under the understanding that all 5.0 were Ultimates? Learned something new today!🙂

All 2016 5.0 cars are Ultimates, according to the brochure I have. I guess that may not be the case with the 2015's though.

When I was looking for a Genesis , I dont recall seeing a 2016 5.0. I looked for 6 months or longer and not once did I see a 2016 5.0? They must not have many in the U S.

They are few and far between, from what I've noticed.

Second Generation - Reverse Engineering of the 17 speaker Lexicon sound system (POOGE)

See above. I have toyed with the same idea, but have not had the time or willpower to do anything like that, because I know that most aftermarket speakers will sound different and not as loud when using the OEM amp. I did however install an aftermarket subwoofer with great results. Some people have added an amp to the OEM sub and also reported good results.

Recently, someone sent me a sampler of 5.1 multichannel DVD audio which I burned on a DVD and I can say that this alone has made a HUGE difference in the sound of the system. You could try that first, because the speakers themselves are really not that bad after all.

The stock door/dash speakers are high quality Lexicon speakers, very hard to find replacements that will sound "better" unless you are willing to spend money to buy expensive replacements speakers, which will not sound better most likely using only the stock amp.

The rear deck subwoofer is the only weak link in the system in my opinion. The bass is tight, but not very loud or can be felt strongly up front unless the sub is over-boosted and then it sounds muddy. I added a Kicker 15in sealed enclosure to my system and it sound damn good for a mostly stock audio system. The stock sub adds good kick bass and actually compliment the larger sub which take over around 40hz.

Hell, the Genesis sounds just as good as my old Pioneer Premiere(damn good speakers) based custom system with the gold cones and the large 1in soft dome tweeters in my old 1999 Toyota Camry XLE V6 from the 2000's which was a clean sounding setup.

I'm digging the kicker sub in the trunk. I'm moving towards that route instead of replacing speakers or the deck sub. I'm looking for a low profile small footprint subwoofer option at this time.

Thank you. You could use a smaller woofer and enclosure or just go with an infinite baffle setup to save space.

I just went with the larger sub since it just take up space in the useless to me recessed portion of my trunk and provides the bass that I can feel without sounding muddy or muffled. The stronger bass really adds depth to my music that was not there with only the stock sub.

In Canada they are. All G2's here are AWD, no RWD option and the 5.0 only came in the Ultimate trim.

Hi, I have a 2015 Genesis Sedan 3.8 AWD with the 17 speaker Lexicon system and my driver's side front door mi-woofer is blown. 2 questions: Do I need to remove the entire door panel of does just the speaker cover portion come off and , where can I purchase a replacement Lexicon speaker? Thanks

Thank you Carguy75! Any idea where I can source a replacement Lexicon mid-woofer for this job? I've searched and all I come up with is the Lexicon website which appears to have only newer speaker components, not anything for my 2015. Thanks!

Anyone have the specs for the 8" rear deck speaker? Ohms, watts, etc? Just trying to get an idea for a replacement speaker that is somewhere in the same range so I don't have to put a sub in the trunk, or add another amp. I've seen replacement Lexicon speakers on eBay, but I think the prices they are asking is a bit much for paper cone material.
