Hello all. Running a 20x9 and 20x10.5 setup on my Genesis with the Ark 1 inch drop and must say even getting 2 alignments per year I’m dying on tires. Just replaced my rears with BF Goodies Comp 2...$550 for both and 15k miles total...and went to check a nail in my front tire today and my fronts have met their doom after about 25k miles. I really don’t wanna drop $1000 on tires every year so maybe deciding to go one spec all the way around on the drop so I can at least rotate them. Anyone drop some pics on here that aren’t running staggered and lowered to help me decide?

Giant low profile setup on a heavy car will eat tires.

Yup. I’m learning the hard way 😂

But they look  SO good, lol.

I will be going in that direction soon, but haven't heard others with Staggered setups out here chewing through them that quickly; could your driving habits be partly to blame too?

I drive like a grandpa man. It’s on ECO at all times also. I don’t do burn outs and average about 15k miles a year. I mean I’ll be replacing rears every 12 months and fronts every 18 months and that’s with is perfectly aligned. My rears might wear slightly faster because I have the added weight of my sound system in the rear.

Added weight? Are you running four 12's back there or what lol?

I do find it strange that you're having to replace them with such low miles and during a shorter period of time. I assume they're wearing evenly or I'd suggest a possible camber issue. Most out here with Staggered setups run 8.5/10" vs. the 9/10.5" you're running, which ironically is what I've been looking at too. Maybe that has something to do with it (too wide and lowered too). I assume your springs are ARK GT-F's which I've considered as well.

Maybe others who are lowered out here will chime in with their tire experiences. You have me curious now as to what the root cause may be before I decide what to put on mine; no one wants to be replacing tires that frequently.

Ahhhhhhhh. Yea I’m 9 and 10-1/2 so that might be what it is. It’s just that thin ass sliver of tire that’s killing me.

I've been considering the 9/10.5's but thought about not lowering and going up on tire diameter one level just to soften the ride, but seeing as you're ripping through tires the 8.5/10 may be the way to go. I see this is gonna require more thought and research before I take the dive.

I dont have many miles on my tires since i swapped to OEM staggers - hoping I dont go through tires too often after reading this!

I would think you're fine since they are OEM and 19's if I'm not mistaken. Hyundai offered that setup direct from the Mfr.

But jumping up to aftermarket 20's that push the width limits with a thin tread may be a bit too much...

OEM for V8 - 245/40/19 front, 275/35/19 rear. Can't remember wheel width.

I don't drive like a Grandpa but I don't do burnouts either - I've had the car over 7 months & 8K mi. and really haven't noticed any significant wear. I do keep up with my alignments though. Lowering springs will alter your suspension geometry & introduce more negative camber. Might be worth using V8 alignment specs as a start, since that's closer to your sizing... Excessive camber will eat tires quickly.

2 12s but more of the build makes the car sit...

Pretty sweet. Nice touch with the Genesis logo too.

You're bringing back flashes of my youth lol. And JL's too!

Unfortunately, you had to lose your spare to accomplish that.

I'd be interested in seeing your wheels and how she sits?

Nice! Looks Good!

Agreed, very sharp! I recognize those wheels as I considered that look, but can't remember as so many wheel mfrs. now have similar styles; are they TSW or Vossen's, or ? Nice flush wheel well too, exactly what I'm looking to accomplish. I think the 8.5/10 with higher offset accomplishes the same - I'll have to compare exact measurements before I make my final decision.

Congrats on a beautiful look on your Empire State Gray baby.

Now, if only I could hear those JL's thumpin' too lol. :stereo:

Another great looking ESG - Texas, eh? If you're in Houston I'll keep an eye out for it!

I’m running 275/30 20x10 and 245/35 20x9 on my awd with no ride height adjustment. These are house brand tires used on a daily driver. I estimate I got about 20-25k miles, threw in some road trips. To my surprise there wasn’t much of an increase with road noise, I haven’t had any quality issues, and grip has been good in wet and dry conditions. I’m no street racer but occasionally I’ll push it through a corner or two. Purchased the wheels and tires around June/July of last yr and I’m just now looking into replacing my tires after the winter. I did keep the wheels on through the entire first yr while living in a warmer state. After moving, this will be the only time I’ve taken them off for the winter.

I’m not sure of the cost of these “house brand” wheels bc I bought the setup as a package. If I find that the prices of the more common name brands of tires are significantly higher, I won’t hesitate to purchase them again. What I’m saying is maybe you can consider buying a lessor known brand if they’re more budget friendly. Just my own experience. I’m sure there are a lot more out there for and against this idea, but worth looking into either way.

Hi Vet, if that's your Ibiza Blue in your Avatar, then the wheels you have look like Blaque Diamond BD-23's (or knock-off's) and are not a house-brand but a quality wheel - I'm considering several BD wheels for when I put some new shoes on mine soon.

Those look surprisingly good on yours and would love to see some more side-angle shots to give us all a better perspective. And I agree with you regarding lesser-known rubber, I've had very good luck myself and saved a pretty penny going that route. Just gotta do your research.
