  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello, I just got a used 2016 and noticed paint wear and tear on the rear bumper near the trunk (first and second pictures, sorry for the dirt).

At first I thought the previous owner must dragged some luggage across it resulting the damage but upon closer inspection I realized the damages are not on the angle where luggage would make contact, but on the flat area. Then I also noticed that marks on the trunk itself (the last picture).

Has anyone else seen this happen? I wonder what could've caused it.

You can't usually see it so maybe I won't fix it if I have to pay out of my pocket. But if it is due to a design or assembly fault do you think I can get it fixed under warranty?

Thanks in advance!

That happens when the power closer pulls the trunklid down to engage the latch. It can touch surfaces briefly, I think Hyundai sells a clear bra to protect both the bumper and the jamb from such contact.

Thanks. There is actually a protective film below on the horizontal surface, but not where it is damaged.
