  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Per the pano roof settlement website, the payments to class members were supposed to go out around October 26 in the form of debit cards. I haven't seen mine yet and just wondering if anyone else has. I realize that most payments are going to those of us who no longer have their qualifying '15-'16 Genesis but figured this would be the best place to check. Expected payment from settlement is $1,000 for those who bought/leased a new, non-pano roof Genesis/Hyundai and $600 for those of us who chose another brand.

No. Hyundai hasn’t even started processing my reimbursement for rental yet.

about to get an earful from the class lawyers.

I just received and activated my pre-paid Hyundai Mastercard worth $200 for my '15 Ultimate's pano roof grenading back in 2017.

I received my $600 card over the weekend and activated it today. Not a bad way to exit the Genesis family I guess. (y)

Be sure to read all the literature which came with them. Often the rebate debit cards charge you the swipe fee every time it's used instead of the merchant which can drastically reduce the balance if you're using it for a bunch of small purchases.

Exactly right. Something like $3/swipe I think (don’t have it in front of me). However I think I can just use it at an ATM to withdraw cash which is what I intend to do. So hopefully just one fee.

I bought a 2016 3.8 from car sense under 6 months ago. I haven’t had any issues besides once and awhile I’ll go to close the sunroof and it will go half way then re open. Just takes another try and it closes completely. I do however hear sounds like something rattling in the sunroof if I go over train tracks or something bumpy while the roof is open. Does not happen if roof is closed. Anything I should keep a look out for? I bought an extended warranty from car sense thinking something will go wrong in the future with all the moving parts. Can someone explain how there problem started, and what steps they took to get it fixed? This is my first time reading about this issue.

Hyundai just reimbursed me losses in full. $$$$

Rodney and Bigtree - you got that wrong. I just talked to customer service and there is no charge to use the card as a debit card, however there is a $3 charge each time it is used it to withdraw cash at an ATM.

So this settlement is just for folks whose roof exploded, correct?

No, I believe it applied only to those who had a 2015-16 Genesis sedan with a panoramic sunroof (not sure if restricted to original owners) regardless of whether the roof exploded or not. Mine worked perfectly the entire time I had it. It's the result of a class action with respect to the exploding roofs. It closed to new class members in June or July 2019 I believe. There were several levels of reimbursements. You could get any damages/costs reimbursed if your roof broke. If you sold/traded or lease ended on your Genesis and you bought another Genesis or Hyundai WITHOUT a panoramic roof you'd get $1,000. For example, G70 roof is not panoramic so the $1k applies. If you got any other car brand to replace your Genesis you get $600, regardless of the type of roof. You had to have ditched the Genesis within a specific time frame. The idea being that you were so terrified of the possibility of the "explosion" that you had to get rid of it ASAP. They also extended the warranty on anything roof related.

Interesting. I have a 2015 with pano roof and did get the warranty extension letter, but that's it.

That’s all you’re entitled to if you still have the car. My lease was up in May which was perfect timing to get the $600 compensation for leasing another brand vehicle. I looked at G70s but the lease deals were awful.

Same here..got the letter but no debit card..but still have my Genesis.

If I recall correctly I received either a letter or postcard indicating that since I owned (leased) a 2015 Genesis I was a potential member of the class action regarding the roofs. It directed me to the website that I provided above. Once there you had to register as well as provide proof that you had either sustained damage costs or disposed of the car. If you no longer had the car you had to provide proof of that which in my case was the lease return document certified by the dealer. You also had to provide proof that you had acquired another car. If it was a Genesis/Hyundai product and didn't have a panoramic roof, you were eligible for the $1,000 card. If you acquired another brand you were eligible for the $600. I simply uploaded a pdf of my lease return and the lease on the new car. Without that registration and proof you wouldn't qualify for either; just the extended warranty.
