  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Spy shots of the long-awaited GV80.

Don't care for that wheel at all, especially being so far off center.

Just noticed that to open the truck it’s via the wiper blade area. Kind of like how the Veloster has it.

I can't tell from the pic, and this may have been discussed before, but are those fake exhaust outlets like Audi uses or just that you can't see the ends of the pipes?

Exterior is spot on. Interior is a step backward unfortunately....

Funny you bring that up, I’ve seen prototypes with no exhaust outlet, I would think they are real

The interior looks great in black or grey color.
It is very minimalistic. There are things I wish were different. But it is far from ugly.

I guess I am the minority here, but the interior designs in those german cars are not gonna age well. They look like a game room full of gadgets you can play with, especially Audi. Too much.

Anyways, Kia nailed the interior design on their K900. Its gorgeous seeing it in person.

i don't know about you guys gut this looks friggin awesome to me and it's just a few pics. This is Genesis' first crack at a luxury SUV and they are rocking it.
This SUV will put the Genesis brand on the map FOR SURE. Once this is released they will then release the new G80 and that looks pretty good too from the spy shots. Genesis is just killing it. Waaaay ahead of the crap that acura, infiniti and lexus makes. It shows that Genesis are not aiming at the Japanese, they are going for the Germans and let me tell you Genesis has got the winning formula. They will rock the world with the release of this SUV and the G80, mark my words!!!

Good first try Genesis....though from the pictures above, i'm not convinced on the proposition.

Exterior - Front looks just ok in the shot above. Was hoping that the grille was less pronounced and flowed across the font of the vehicle more cohesively. I have a feeling that I can't really decipher the lines due to the direct front shot and the white exterior color. Hoping that the hood bulge crescents into the grille more organically and I'm sure that it will be more believable once i see different angles of the car. The front lower bumper looks very plane Jane - those stainless steel looking "darts" don't help at all. The rear looks good save for the god awful glossy plastic bottom part of the rear bumper. I really hope that's some sort of plastic wrap.

Interior - Underwhelming so far. I'm seeing the minimalist approach but i'm not sure if its working - will need to see more of the GV80. Two things stand out, the awful black plastic looking HVAC controls. As nice as it may feel, the look cheapens the interior - it unfortunately looks as if it was pulled from a low end Hyundai. By comparison, the 2020 Kia K900 looks much more harmonious in terms of how the interior lines meet up (Dash, Doors, Console) and how the materials on the stacked center console and door panels flow.

Seems to me that the spinning control wheels above the big round controller will be troublesome if they start collecting dirt and possible spills from the nearby cup holder.

Just another opinion here, I overall like what I see. I agree with db2022 regarding the steering wheel, but I could live with it. The center stack will never be accused of being too busy. However, it's not bad and the materials that we can currently see look of quality. The outside appears to be more accepted by the masses. The grill is big, but the overall exterior design looks quite good. Am I don't only one missing the Genesis wings on the back?

rxnov and Zingerman commented on the K900. I must agree, the interior of the K900 is really impressive - especially at roughly $60,000 MSRP. The GV80 is somewhere between $46,000 to $48,000 based on the latest reports and I seriously wonder how much of that is factoring into the interior we have seen. The black touchscreen (HVAC area) is a toss up and will reserve judgement once I see it in person. Personally, I do wish the interior had a tad more "wow" factor while remaining clean. However, they may be saving that for a larger, more expensive (GV90 perhaps) SUV.

Overall, I believe that most people will find the vehicle attractive for the expected price point. I know this vehicle isn't moving the need forward with the brand recognition, but I also do not see this as a step back based on the current impressions.

Now, as said before, I will pray for a sport edition with a new steering wheel and carbon fiber inlays to jazz up the interior :)

I'm also curious as to how the controls will feel. Cheap/plastic-like or metal/weighted with a premium feel? We should know shortly....

Odds are high it will be a nice SS type metal.

Disappointed to see that the screen is still sticking out of the dash rather than being nicely integrated.

So far, everything I'm seeing in these pics pleases the eye..... except for steering wheel design. I'm sure it feels great, like the current G80 Sport, but the looks aren't there in my opinion.

Exterior is rock star great! The rear end especially, but I'm worried that the gloss black part also extends down the sides and lines the fenders.... kind of like fender flares. I hope it doesn't.

I know in Canada they are looking to open stand alone dealers starting in 2021

That would be great and I am pulling for you. But I have to ask, how do you “know“? I ask because dealers have said the same thing but without any apparent foundation for saying it.

Not really stand-alone dealerships, but 'distributor locations.'

Genesis Canada is on track to open a total of 30 distributor locations across Canada before the end of calendar year 2021, which will be located in partnership with and proximity to established Hyundai dealers.

The Genesis brand launched in Canada three years ago with an entirely online model for scheduling test drives, ordering vehicles, booking service and home- or office-based delivery for customers.

Richard Trevisan, brand director of Genesis Canada, told Automotive News Canada that customers began asking for locations where they could interact with the vehicles before committing to a purchase. These locations, which are labeled internally as “distributors,” will not maintain inventory but are instead intended to be conveniently located product demonstrations hubs.

To date, Genesis has opened 22 such locations in Canada, including boutique locations at the Square One shopping centre in Mississauga, Ont., and in the Montreal suburb of Laval. The brand also has an experience centre at Toronto Pearson International Airport.

The direct-from-manufacturer online sales model has been a limiting factor for Genesis sales in Canada due to the limited options in seeing the product at hand (if one doesn't want to bother w/ making an appointment for a vehicle to be dropped off).

Disappointed to see that the screen is still sticking out of the dash rather than being nicely integrated.

Don't mind the tablet form-factor as it allows for a lower dash, but Hyundai did a better job of integrating the screen to the rest of the dash on the Palisade and Grandeur.

I could be biased but I consider the new BMW dash to be the best looking in the class and the new MB the worst. View attachment 25351View attachment 25352

Just going to have to disagree on that.

While the old BMW dash design was showing its age, it's preferable to the new one which isn't aesthetically pleasing or luxurious looking.

Too much metal trim going in all different directions.

The nav/screen is poorly integrated into the dash and looks cheap (unlike that below) and the that wide expanse of plain dash in front of the passenger also makes the interior look cheap.

New Sonata is better than the BMW...LOL

I'm talking about design, not quality of materials and even there, it seems BMW is remaining behind its German brethren.

This is what C/D stated in their recent review of the M340i.

Audi, Mercedes, and even Genesis are redefining interior quality in this class, and yet BMW is resolutely sticking to obviously synthetic and rubberized plastic on the dash and doors. It's a shame the company wouldn't fight for the manual the way it's apparently fighting to keep this stuff.

Audi by a landslide...love the hidden/streamlined HVAC vents...

Usually like clean/simple designs, but Audi's current design just lacks any sense of warmth and dislike how low placement of the main screen.

Actually prefer the design of this...

A modern, clean design but still has a sense of warmth.
