Well guess we are getting a g70.

Took family to the L.A. Auto show today. Went to the Genesis display and registered as an owner and got my free gift, a minimalist wallet and leather sunglasses case both custom embossed with my initials and the Genesis logo.

we did the private tour with a dozen others but we were the only Genesis owners.

my wife fell in love with the g70. They had a blue one there for people to sit in, and she really liked the car and the color.

on the way home she asked if we could afford to trade her Camry in for one, so tomorrow we are going to go look and see.

my wife has owned 3 Camry’s. 1999, 2007, 2017. She has never owned another make or model and has never shown any interest in anything else.

will be interesting to see her reactions after a real test drive, if we can get a dealer to allow one.

Camry is a great car. You'll be giving up interior space and fuel mileage. Everything else is for the G70... two different types of customers though.

No problem test driving a G70 especially if you already own a Genesis. I was getting an oil change and asked to drive a brand new black 2020 G70 3.3t. No problem. Love the car especially the road feel.

the interior space is irrelevant we use the g80 for family stuff, Gas mileage will suffer as her Camry is a hybrid and gets 40+. But since 10/2016 she has only put 9,000 miles on it, so probably not a big deal.

If she's used to the camry, just make sure she's ok with the ride height as getting in and out may be not as easy as it's really low compared to family sedans or the G80. I didn't realize this until I came home with my new G70 lol. Using the memory seat feature to raise the seat height helps a lot.

I haven't had a bad dealership experience, so I am not worried about it.

however we can't find the one she wants. only 2 dealerships within 50 miles of us, neither have a 2.0 Dynamic. all they have is the Sport in Blue or Black and she wants the Dynamic in White.


I've put out some emails to other dealerships including AZ..

using that link I filtered to the color she wanted.

it shows 2 at Huntington Beach and 1 at Irvine, however we were at both dealerships last weekend and they only have Black and Blue. and even if they do have the White, neither have black interior. The only dealerships showing wht/blk/rwd are Victorville and Bakersfield, which didn't come up when I put in my home zip (zip I gave you was work).


sent an email to Genesis of Victorville and Bakersfield, not looking forward to the 100+ mile drive to either though.
