  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

After 69,000+ miles I have traded my Genesis (Ultimate) in on a 2020 RAV4 Hybrid. Obviously two very different types of cars but I preferred an SUV this time. The hybrid will come in handy in California with our sky high gas taxes. My Genesis treated me well over the years with the only issue being the radio head unit. The radio occasionally stopped working and/or froze to where I couldn't change the sound or channel. This was my second Genesis (had a 2012 Ultimate) and I really liked both cars. Before I leave I want to say something about Hyundai. Two weeks ago the radio went bad on me. The channels would only change after a one minute delay and the NAV froze as well. I was way beyond the 36,000 mile warranty but my dealer contacted Hyundai. Hyundai offered to send me a new head unit at no charge despite being out of warranty for a long time. I was unbelievably impressed with Hyundai and my dealer for going to bat for me. The dealer was going to charge $300-$400 for labor which I think is fair. Somehow the radio started working again and I traded it in before swapping the head unit. I can't express how impressed I am with my Genesis and with Hyundai's response to my issue.

I still plan to check in on this forum from time to time to see how you guys and your cars are doing. Unfortunately I haven't found a RAV4 forum that is anywhere near as good as this one. Good luck to all of you. See you on the 405 :).

Good to know thanks. I'm still trying to decide if I should buy a platinum wrap warranty for $2k.

Yes, you should. Only more so if you intend on keeping the vehicle for a while. In the end, you will be grateful for the peace of mind.

IMO it is worth the $$

No insurance worth the $$
Insurance is not losing the money. They're commercial organizations who make money.

I bought the Platinum wrap for I keep cars for a long time ! IMO it is worth the $$
Just for the sake of argument - where did you get yours & what was the user experience with it (if any)?

When I purchased the car CPO I had purchased the plan. The finance guy took care of everything! It was as easy as signing the papers.
I see - was thinking about an aftermarket one, but have heard a lot of horror stories about nearly all of them.

Depends, skip. My past experience with my Audi worked out, the plan did pay for itself but took a battle to get 'em to pay after a blown head.
The cost of the HPP plan should be comparative to other 3rd-party plans (even cheaper for some) and, all things considered, not sure I'd choose another for these cars; backed by Hyundai plays a huge part imo.

If it covers all the electronics it may be a good deal. Check the price of replacing the head unit.

Exactly. The hma platinum wrap covers the head unit for even my 2015 which expired at 3 years 36k miles out to 110k. That alone is worth the price of admission.
