If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi

I have been wanting a genesis for almost 1 year, im eyeing one with 13K miles for $29K. 3.8 liter with the Ultimate package.
how's the reliability? most important is how good is it on gas? how long will the tank last me? anything i need to know before buying? Also, it doesnot come with Apple car play, but is there a way you could install it?

Thank you!

No, you can't get CarPlay.
Overall, reliability is very good. That is really low miles
Gas mileage depends on your use. It sucks in city traffic and short distances, especially when cold. Highway is mid 20s. If fuel mileage is most important you should be looking at an Elantra, not a big heavy Genesis

No you can't get car play or android auto with the ultimate. And $29K is still a bit much even if it's a CPO. Things to look out for is rattling from the pano roof and drive shaft noises between 26-35 MPH seem to be the most common issues. A quick search in my area finds 2016 CPO around 15000 miles for around 27K AWD Ultimate Package.

how many miles you could get on one tank?

If you're more interested in the car get the Genesis. If you're more interested in the prestige or luxury ownership and service experience get the Mercedes. Mid to high 20s is a good price.

I do almost all stop and go bumper to bumper driving and average around 340 miles per tank so around 17-19 mpg depending on how heavy my foot is. But I can easily get up to 25-26 mpg on the weekends or out of town trips. If you drive in heavy traffic these large cars don't do very well mileage wise. I also came from a 2015 2.0T Sonata and it is a huge upgrade. If you liked the Sonata you will love the Genesis. lack of Android / Carplay is the biggest drawback to me.

Best Gas advice iv'e had anywhere, that's the answer i wanted lol, my Sonata does 400 miles a tank and i pay around $30-$35 a tank, so the genesis would be what? $50? $45? since its 20 Gallons?

If gas mileage is a big concern to you, widen your consideration a bit and look at the 535i.

On the highway I can approach 400 but around town less than 300. When I live in CT a 2 mile trip to the store in winter would get me 12 mpg and the return would be 14 mpg. But warm on the highway at 65 it would go up to 22-24 on a long highway trip I've hit 27 with AWD over 400 miles. .

I see the pano roof mentioned. I've never had the problem but I never open it. My first Genesis has 50k and my present one has 20k.

Holds 18.5 gallons. I usually fill up on Tuesday to Thursday and the price often jumps 10 to 20 cents on the weekends. Right now gas here is 2.32 but was 2.45 last Saturday.

Good luck with it. I had three Sonatas before my first Genesis and it is a nice step up.
